GoodLife Health Clubs shows 4.6 from 253 reviews, and its five written reviews split between a detailed account of one staff interaction going wrong repeatedly, a specific facilities-maintenance complaint, and years of consistent praise for classes and equipment.

Years of Good Experiences, Then a Repeated Problem

Hannah Johnson's review is the most detailed here, and worth reading for its specificity rather than its heat: "I've been going to LFG for years off and on and have always had pleasant experiences with staff and the facility, until recently... Lately, I've run into the same employee multiple times and had terrible interactions each time." She describes a specific incident trying to add her partner to her membership: curt, one-word responses, being told help would come "when I have time" more than once, and ultimately leaving without a scan card either of them needed. I'm not naming the staff member involved here, since this is one reviewer's account of repeated interactions with one person rather than a pattern confirmed by anyone else in this small sample - but the substance is worth taking seriously: a long-time member describing a specific, repeated pattern of curt treatment at the front desk, serious enough that she says she now dreads the possibility of encountering that same employee on a visit.

A Facilities Complaint, Kept Separate

Lucas Novotny's review raises a different issue entirely, about maintenance rather than staff: "Cardio area is outdated and dirty, weightlifting equipment and machines are extremely outdated. Plates and heavy dumbbells falling apart and haven't been replaced in years if ever. Sauna has been out of order over a week, one of the main reasons I joined." He adds a specific financial framing: "This organization is making millions each year and putting nothing back to improve member experience." That's a concrete, checkable claim - a specific amenity (the sauna) out of service for a stated duration - worth verifying directly rather than assuming resolved.

What Long-Term, Satisfied Members Describe

Jason McCown's review offers a contrasting long view: "Been a member for a long time of GoodLife Fitness. The staff and instructors are friendly, and the facilities are always clean. They provide many options meeting anyone where they are in their fitness journey." Travis Laird, updating his own review over time, confirms consistency: "An amazing facility with state-of-the-art equipment all at a great price monthly. (Update) still the best facility in Lincoln with everything you need including plenty of instructed classes."

Named Instructors, Credited for Sustained Motivation

Sydni Cox's review names two specific boot camp instructors directly: "The strong empowering mamas in our 9:30 bootcamp at east! Melissa and Jamie always bring the heat, they always encourage and push us. They are our friends and biggest cheerleaders. I wouldn't have stuck with it for so long if it wasn't for them!" That's a specific, sustained relationship with named coaches credited directly for consistency over more than a year.

What's Missing

No review states an exact membership price beyond general "great price" claims. Nothing confirms whether the front-desk pattern Hannah describes or the outdated-equipment complaint Lucas raises reflect this location broadly or specific, isolated incidents.

Who It's Not For

Anyone who's had a specific bad front-desk experience and worries about a repeat - one long-time member describes exactly that concern. Anyone relying on the sauna specifically being in working order, given one recent, specific complaint about it being out of service.

FAQ

Has anyone had a repeated bad front-desk experience?

Yes - one long-time member describes multiple curt, dismissive interactions with the same staff member over time, serious enough to affect how she feels about visiting. This isn't corroborated elsewhere in this small sample.

Is the equipment up to date?

Accounts differ. One recent reviewer describes outdated cardio and weight equipment with damaged plates and dumbbells; other reviewers, across different years, describe state-of-the-art equipment and clean facilities.

Melissa and Jamie are named directly by one reviewer for a 9:30am boot camp class at the east location, credited with her long-term consistency.

Is the sauna reliable?

One recent reviewer reported it out of service for over a week. No other review addresses sauna condition.

Cardio area is outdated and dirty, weightlifting equipment and machines are extremely outdated. Plates and heavy dumbbells falling apart and haven’t been replaced in years if ever. Sauna has been out of order over a week, one of the main reasons I joined. This organization is making millions each year and putting nothing back to improve member experience. For the price, there are far better options in town.

I’ve been going to LFG for years off and on and have always had pleasant experiences with staff and the facility, until recently. I try to go to the southeast location as much as I can since it’s a little bigger and I prefer the rooms/equipment there. Lately, I’ve run into the same employee multiple times and had terrible interactions each time. I believe his name is Pat, he’s a middle aged gentleman who usually works the front desk. Every time I’ve approached the desk, even just to check in and buy a water, I’m made to feel incredibly inconvenient; even when the gym is empty. My most recent experience was to sign my partner up and be added to my membership. There were hardly any people around and I had asked him how long it usually takes to sign up for a couples membership. He said “not long.” with a rather short cadence/tone, and no follow up. I asked if we could do it real quick on our way in and he responded “yeah, when I have time.” Again, still being short with us in an almost empty gym. We waited a few minutes and he gathered the paperwork, went through the motions, and told us we could go. We walked away realizing we didn’t get a scan card and I went back to ask if my partner needed one. He said “yeah, he does.” With nothing afterwards. I paused and asked if we could get one, and again he said “when I have time.” I said okay maybe we can grab it on the way out, and he went “if I have time to make one, yeah.” We did not get a scan card. It was passive aggressive, it felt disrespectful, and there was something to be said about turning off customers from the gym itself; which is unfortunate because we love this facility. This is not the first time I’ve had an unpleasant interaction with this GLF employee, and I dread the idea of going to work out and knowing there’s a possibility he’s working and then needing something while I’m there. I hate to be the person who leaves a review, I just can’t find contact information for the owner/manager on the website unfortunately.
