Toms Health And Fitness Private Gym And Mobile Personal Trainer Reading

Reading, United Kingdom

This record has a mouthful of a name, and the address explains the confusion: the listing points at Infinity Gym on Marcus Close in Reading.

It isn't a gym. It's a personal trainer who works out of one. Every reviewer describes booked sessions with one man, Tom, and nobody mentions a membership, a floor, or letting themselves in with a fob.

So if you're looking for a gym in Reading, this record won't help you. If you want a PT, the reviews are unusually specific about what he actually does.

He Takes People Who Are Scared Of The Weights Room

The fullest account, from a client in September 2025: "Recently decided to improve my fitness and lose weight through resistance training. I had been going to the gym for a few months and had lost a significant amount of weight but had seen very few strength gains, wasn't really sure what I was doing and lacked confidence to access the free weights section at the gym. I was reluctant to begin lifting heavy due to poor form and lack of ability. Found Tom online and contacted him for some help. He got back to me really quickly, was friendly, knowledgeable and understood exactly what I was looking for. I booked ten sessions with Tom."

Read the problem he describes. He was already going to the gym. He'd already lost the weight. He just couldn't make himself walk into the free weights section.

That's an extremely common reason people stall, and it's the specific thing this trainer was hired to fix. Ten sessions to learn how, not a permanent arrangement.

A client in December 2025 describes the same job: "He helped me build strong gym fundamentals, improve my form, and understand how to train properly. He also really boosted my confidence in the gym."

Two clients, three months apart, both talking about confidence and fundamentals rather than results alone.

He Works Around Injuries

A client in September 2025: "I worked with Tom for just a few sessions with the goal of creating a routine to help me recover from a hamstring injury and build strength for long-distance running. Tom was knowledgeable and supportive, responding brilliantly to my current fitness needs. He's provided me with valuable resources about nutrition."

A client in September 2025: "Tom created bespoke plans each session depending on what I wanted to focus on, including worked around any injuries I had."

Two independent clients mention injuries being trained around. That's a real skill and worth knowing before you book, because plenty of trainers just tell you to rest and come back later.

The Long-Term Client

A client in March 2023: "We have been working with Tom for several years and he never fails to keep us on track. The reason we stay with him is because he is a great listener and uses his experience and deep knowledge to meet us where we are. He is motivating, humble and fun to be around."

Several years, and she explains why: he listens and meets people where they are.

Note the "we." She's training as a pair, which is worth asking about if you'd rather split the cost with someone.

About The 4.9

Twenty-seven ratings. That's small, and it's a personal trainer's sample.

If you don't click with a PT, you stop booking. You don't write a review about it. So the people on this record are, by definition, the ones it worked for. The rating tells you Tom's clients are happy; it can't tell you whether you'd be one.

Nobody names a price. One client mentions booking ten sessions as a block, which suggests packages exist.

Hours

Monday to Thursday, 08:00 to 20:00. Saturday, 08:00 to 17:00. No Friday and no Sunday listed.

Friday missing entirely is unusual and worth checking. Treat all of these as booking hours rather than a door you can walk through.

Recently decided to improve my fitness and lose weight through resistance training. I had been going to the gym for a few months and had lost a significant amount of weight but had seen very few strength gains, wasn’t really sure what I was doing and lacked confidence to access the free weights section at the gym. I was reluctant to begin lifting heavy due to poor form and lack of ability. Found Tom online and contacted him for some help. He got back to me really quickly, was friendly, knowledgeable and understood exactly what I was looking for. I booked ten sessions with Tom with a plan to learn technique, good form and the best exercises for building strength and muscle. Over the ten weeks with Tom I learned how to perform dumbbell and barbell exercises, cable and resistance band movements and how to maintain good posture and form to avoid injury during heavy weight exercises. Tom helped me to create a workout plan based on a Push, Pull, Legs split and even created a periodisation calendar for me that included breaking my training up into hypertrophy, strength and metabolic overload periods to maximise progress. Sounds complicated but the way it was laid out and explained makes perfect sense. The plan is simple, fun and challenging. It gives me focus when I go to the gym, I’m not wondering around picking random bits of equipment, working out for an hour six days a week and achieving nothing. Now I go into the gym, know exactly what my plan is, how much weight I’m aiming to lift and what my overload plan is. Over the 10 weeks I have doubled the weight I bench press, squat and pull, seen genuine muscle growth and feel confident enough to sit on a bench or stand at the squat rack at the gym without the worry I’m going to embarrass or hurt myself. The private gym Tom uses is fully equipped, clean and comfortable. Had great communication with Tom throughout my ten sessions, appointments were booked flexibly around my work commitments and Tom was always on time, friendly and responsive to what I wanted to achieve.

We have been working with Tom for several years and he never fails to keep us on track. The reason we stay with him is because he is a great listener and uses his experience and deep knowledge to meet us where we are. He is motivating, humble and fun to be around. I never thought I would say it but becoming more fit and stronger with him has been a fantastic journey.
