We had a superb day out at Hale Country Club thanks to our eldest lad. We were on a 'Spa experience' that included lunch, a 'treatment' (massage, facial or a combination of both). I had a massage for the first time and it won't be the last. My missus had a 'facial'. We spent the time between the infinity pool and it's hydrotherapy jets, the saunas (salt and standard), steam room and swimming pools. I particularly liked the ice fountain: I'd not encountered one before. We were very lucky with the weather and spent the last hour on sunbeds by the pool, but it wouldn't have detracted much from the day if it had been a wet day in November. The staff treated us like royalty. They were extremely polite and attentive. Don't think about it: book it.

Nice spa day during the weekday. Relatively clean and staff were friendly. We were greeted with some wellness drinks and macaroons, which was nice. The massages were relatively expensive for what it is, didn’t feel like you get the full 30/1 hour massage. The infinity pool is small but since it wasn’t too busy it was nice to sit and chill, overlooking some greenery. We also ordered food, to my surprise the sushi were actually quite nice, especially the tempura prawn one, very different from the usual I have. I would not recommend the lamb chops, very dry and the sauce was just too much.

Awful experience with spa Booked a manicure and pedicure for myself and my mum, two days before my wedding. This cost £250 in total. What was supposed to be a relaxing pampering experience, turned in to a stressful ordeal, with service taking over 4 hours. The nail varnish products were poor quality and difficult to apply, and the technicians seemed inexperienced and unqualified. Complained about varnish quality and cuts to nails. Staff remover varnish from finger nails repainted with gel varnish instead, but I was left with a poorly applied pedicure and cuts to 6 of my fingers/toes. As we gad spent hours at the spa at this stage and had to prepare for wedding, decided to leave. When I complained after events, spa manager reported that they felt the issue had been addressed on the day. Only willing to refund 1/2 of treatments, and stopped responding to emails when asked to escalate issue. Spa staff clearly do not care about reputation or quality of service provided. Would advise against booking any nail services here. Personally won’t visit again following experience. Customer service provided also disappointing, I can see someplace accounts from other reviews.

I was a member here for a year and a half. Their membership fee increased from £170 to £200, and I did not see any improvements to the facilities. In addition to this, on a more frequent basis, services were out of use such as the steam room and sauna. I bought a guest pass to the spa for my partner, paid £50 for the guest pass, and the steam room wasn't active. I wrote to them to ask them to credit me a guest pass as I wasn't able to use what they offered, paying £50 to use a sauna and pool is steep, they replied to me quite sarcastically to say they had a sign up in reception and I should have noticed this. I didn't notice this. The sign must have been maybe a few inches tall, they didn't mention it when I bought the spa pass, so we only saw this when we went upstairs, and it was too late. I explained to them I have been a member for 1.5 years, never asked for anything and I don't want a refund, just a guest pass because we feel a little robbed. Overall, I think the service has gone down while the prices have gone up. Please also see a photograph of the standards of some of the equipment, this doesn't reflect the quality they promise when you pay your £350 joining fee and £200/ month.

I was a member here for 3 years and I would never go back. My main issue with this place is whilst I was there one of their PTs scammed me, he got sacked and basically got away with around £200 of my money. When I raised this the gym basically said it’s not their fault, dismissed the situation, and offered me zero support. I want to be clear why this was so disappointing: The personal trainer in question was allowed to operate on site, wore the club’s uniform, trained members under the club’s brand, and represented the business, but Hale gets to pick and choose whether or not they are responsible for this. You have a duty of care to you clients to vet staff and not to let this happen. Just because legally someone is an independent contractor doesn’t absolve you of any moral responsibility when you set up the system that enabled them to scam your customers on your premises. Before the club responds I want to note, this incident occurred in 2022 and the PT was called Niall. It was a long time ago but I’m sick of people talking about this place like it’s good. Even without this happening I was ready to cancel, the premises are not great, things stay broke for years despite your membership increasing every two months. Do not come here if you want to train properly, the place is designed around families and children. People who actually train for sports are not the target demographic nor the priority. Customers are always loud and allowed to drink alcohol in the hot tub/sauna area, children are constantly running riot around the pool screaming and it often smells like urine. The gym itself is oversold and they got rid of most of the barbells when I was there. Let’s call it what it is, a glorified leisure centre aimed at lower middle class families. Also the food is mediocre, expensive, and mostly unhealthy and the price they charge for a protein shake is actually criminal. The word “luxury” gets thrown around a lot these days and Hale is a perfect example of that.
