This record is filed as Unicus Athletics & Crossfit Argyle, on Fort Worth Drive in Argyle, Texas. It holds a perfect 5.0 rating from 8 Google reviews.
Two problems with that rating, and I'd rather lead with both.
Eight ratings is a very small sample. And the record is old: the newest review dates from October 2019, and three of the five were written in 2016, which makes them nearly ten years old.
Every reviewer also calls the place "CrossFit Argyle" rather than Unicus, so the name on this record may reflect a rebrand the reviews predate. If you're searching Maps, try both.
The Most Credible Review Comes From A Clinician
A member in August 2016: "I have moved and done a lot of traveling always searching for solid gyms to drop in at. Both the coaching and programming here is exceptional and blows most gyms out of the water when it comes to attentiveness. I also work in the health care industry in regards to musculoskeletal injury and would feel comfortable sending my patients to work with any of the coaches here."
Someone who treats musculoskeletal injuries professionally, saying they'd refer patients to these coaches.
That's the strongest endorsement on this page by a distance, because they have a professional reputation attached to it and they'd be the one picking up the pieces. It's also from 2016, and coaching staff turn over. Ask who's coaching now.
They Scale For Older Members
A member in August 2016: "I really appreciate the way the coaches adjust the workout to fit my age and ability. Senior citizens CAN do crossfit when you have the right team working with you. It's a very friendly atmosphere where you can work at your own comfort level yet if you want to push yourself, they are there to see that it's done right and most importantly, safely."
"Senior citizens CAN do crossfit when you have the right team." That's a real claim about coaching quality, and it lines up with the clinician's account: both describe adjustment to the individual rather than one workout for everyone.
A member in January 2017 makes the same point: "CrossFit is for everyone, from kids to grandparents, the coaches tailor each day to your individual abilities and goals."
Three independent reviewers describing scaling. On a sample this small that's about as consistent as it gets.
The Newest Review Is A Goodbye
A member in October 2019: "First Crossfit Box I joined. Great place to workout. Great programming. Great Equipment. Most important of all great people aka community. Braden and Jackie know their stuff. The reason I had to quit working out here is because my job moved me up beyond the mountains. I still go back to visit my peeps."
Two coaches named, and a member who left only because he moved away and still visits.
That's the last thing anyone wrote here, in October 2019.
What This Page Can't Tell You
Whether any of it still holds. Eight ratings, five written reviews, spanning 2016 to 2019, describing coaches by name at a box that may have changed its name.
Nobody mentions the price, the class timetable, the equipment beyond "great," or whether there's open gym time. No opening hours appear on the listing, which for a class-based box is the single most useful missing fact.
The phone number is +1 940-387-0400 and the site is unicusathletics.com. Given the age of everything here, those are more reliable than this page.
Who It's Not For
Anyone wanting to train alone with their own programme. This is coached class work, by every account.
