Monument Fitness Charlestown - Gym in Boston, United States

Boston, United States

One member trialled four gyms for a week each before choosing this one. That's the most rigorous review I've read in this entire directory, and it's why this page is worth your time.

Monument Fitness is at 545 Medford St in Charlestown, Boston. It holds 4.9 from 68 reviews, running through June 2026.

The Man Who Actually Shopped Around

A member in September 2025: "When I moved to Somerville/Charlestown a few years ago, finding a gym I loved was my top priority. I ended up trialing 1 week at 4 gyms, and Monument was the gym I ended up picking, and I'm thrilled I did. I like hybrid fitness style gyms. Some days I want a coach to tell me what to do, so I can be in and out in under an hour. Some days I want to do my own thing. Some days I want to squat, bench, Olympic lift, CrossFit, and even some days I want to run and do at least 1 burpee. This gym has it all."

Four gyms. A week in each. Then he picked this one.

Why does that beat every rave on the page? Because everyone else is comparing this gym to nothing. He's comparing it to three specific alternatives he actually sweated in. That's the difference between a compliment and a test.

He also tells you the model precisely: coached classes when you want them, open floor when you don't. Squat, bench, Olympic lifting, CrossFit, running. If you've ever had to choose between a box that programmes everything and a gym that programmes nothing, he's saying you don't have to here.

About That 4.9

Sixty-eight reviews is a middling sample, so I'd normally reach for the selection argument. But look at who's writing: a comparison shopper, a member of seven months, an open-gym couple, and a parent whose daughter has been coming for two years. That's a mix of relationships and lengths, not a burst of first impressions.

Still, one caution: every single review names the owners, Stacey and Aaron. This is a small gym built around two people. What's being rated is partly them, and that's a fit you can't inherit from someone else's review.

The Teen Class, and a Real Outcome

A parent in June 2026: "My daughter has been going to the teen class for 2 years now and loves it. They push them physically and mentally which has been great for her athletic performance. She plays Division 1 girls hockey in Boston and this past season has been her best by far. Off ice training is very important. Stacey and Aaron know exactly how to motivate and push them. It keeps them off their phone and engaged with their peers."

That's the newest review, and it's the most specific claim of results anywhere here: a D1 hockey player whose best season followed two years of off-ice training. He's a parent, not a coach, so that's a correlation he's drawing rather than one I can verify. But two years is long enough that he's not guessing about the programme.

Coaching, From Someone Who Started at Zero

A member in January 2026: "I've been a member for about 7 months. The coaches are truly next level. They're knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in every member's progress, whether you're brand new to working out or have years of experience. You never feel lost or overlooked, and the coaching cues and encouragement make a huge difference."

"You never feel lost or overlooked." That's the thing a hybrid gym can easily get wrong.

A member in January 2026: "I joined when I first moved to Charlestown, and it quickly became so much more than just a gym. Through this community, I've made many friends, and it truly helped Charlestown feel like home. I'm especially grateful for the 1 on 1 coaching support that Stacey provided me, helping me feel my strongest for my wedding (and helping me get my first strict pull up!)."

A first strict pull-up is a concrete, unfakeable result. So is one-to-one coaching existing alongside classes.

A member in March 2025: "My husband and I have an open gym membership, and from day one, they made us feel like part of the community."

Open gym memberships exist as a distinct option. That's useful and nobody else spells it out.

What's Missing

No prices. Sixty-eight reviews and not one figure, despite three membership types being implied: classes, open gym, and 1-on-1.

No equipment specifics beyond the disciplines named.

Hours and Who It's Not For

05:30 to 19:30 weekdays, 06:00 to 16:00 Saturday, 08:00 to 16:00 Sunday. Opening at half five says early risers; closing at half seven says this isn't a late-night gym.

Not for you if you train after 8pm. It's shut.

Not for you if you want anonymity. Every review is about community and two named owners.

Do they train teenagers?

Yes. A parent reports his daughter has attended the teen class for two years alongside Division 1 hockey.

What does it cost?

No review names a price. Ask at monumentfit.com.

My daughter has been going to the teen class for 2 years now and loves it. They push them physically and mentally which has been great for her athletic performance. She plays Division 1 girls hockey in boston and this past season has been her best by far. Off ice training is very important. Stacey and Aaron know exactly how to motivate and push them. It keeps them off their phone and engaged with their peers. It also teaches them how to motivate not only themselves but their team mates. This in turn will make them effective leaders. The gym has grown over the years and with more than enough equipment and experience to go around the class does not lag or slow up for any reason. My daughter can't wait to get to class and that in itself shows you how great Monumnet fitness is.

I've been a member at Monument Fitness for about 7 months, and I can confidently say it's one of the best decisions I've made for my health and fitness. The coaches are truly next level. They're knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in every member's progress - whether you're brand new to working out or have years of experience. You never feel lost or overlooked, and the coaching cues and encouragement make a huge difference. What really sets Monument apart, though, is the community. From day one, it's been welcoming, supportive, and motivating. It's the kind of place where people actually want to see you succeed, and that energy makes showing up consistently easy. The classes are well-structured, challenging, and fun. They strike a great balance between pushing you to improve while still being approachable for all fitness levels. I've seen real results in strength, conditioning, and overall confidence since joining. If you're looking for a gym that combines expert coaching, a strong community, and workouts that actually deliver results, Monument Fitness is it. I'd recommend it to anyone, no matter where you're starting from.

I joined Monument Fitness when I first moved to Charlestown, and it quickly became so much more than just a gym. Through this community, I've made many friends, and it truly helped Charlestown feel like home. The owners, Stacey and Aaron, genuinely care about their members and create an environment that's welcoming, supportive, and motivating. I'm especially grateful for the 1 on 1 coaching support that Stacey provided me, helping me feel my strongest for my wedding (and helping me get my first strict pull up!). Stacey's love for fitness is contagious - she somehow got me moving even at 5:30am on the days I definitely didn't want to be. I'll always be grateful to Monument Fitness for the role they've played in my fitness journey and for the incredible community they brought into my life here in Charlestown.

Some days I want to squat, bench, Olympic lift, CrossFit, and even some days I want to run and do at least 1 burpee. This gym has it all. The coaching staff and owners have fitness levels that I aspire to, which helps motivate me to show up. Since attending classes 4/5 days a week, all my lifts have gone up. - squat: +75 pounds - bench: +60 pounds - Murph (CrossFit workout with a lot of running): 4 minutes faster - clean and jerk: +55 pounds The gym has everything from very competitive training in strength and endurance, to casual lifters who just want to be healthier. I consider myself a "casual" Olympic weightlifter, and by following the programming here, I was able to get 2nd place at the world championship masters event! WHILE still being able to run a 6 minute mile! How many weightlifters can do that. Pic related. If you want to get fit, this is the most fun, challenging, and healthy gym in the area, this is 100% the gym to attend.

Monument Fitness is hands down one of the best gyms I've ever been to. The coaches are so knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely welcoming. My husband and I have an open gym membership, and from day one, they made us feel like part of the community. The vibe at the gym is really awesome - everyone is friendly, encouraging, and it's clear that people genuinely enjoy being there. If you're looking for a place that pushes you to be better while making you feel at home, this is it. Cannot recommend this place enough. Seriously, just go - you won't regret it!
