North Jersey Muay Thai

Lodi, United States

The single most telling review of North Jersey Muay Thai isn't the loudest one - it's the person who switched. A March 2020 student writes, "I switched to this gym from a different one in the area and it has been the best decision I have ever made." That's a decision with a cost attached: someone left a place they were already paying for. When a reviewer quietly names the competition by walking away from it, I pay more attention than to any "best ever."

What this place actually is

Set expectations first: this is a striking gym, not a general fitness center. It's a Muay Thai school in Lodi, New Jersey, and the reviews are all about coaching, technique, and sparring, not machines or cardio. A December 2019 review calls it "without a doubt the best of the best for authentic Muay Thai. The most passionate and experienced coaches with so many skilled fighters." If you're looking for a treadmill and a squat rack, this is the wrong door.

Where the voices agree

The through-line across every review is coaching and atmosphere. One May 2019 student describes it as "a true martial arts gym. Be prepared to come and put in work," then reassures newcomers: "walking up the steps for the first time and hearing people yelling and hitting pads will make you feel intimidated. Don't be." Another, from March 2019, notes it works "for pros and regular joes alike. Family atmosphere, men, women and children attend." So the picture is consistent - demanding training, welcoming room, all levels.

The one repeated gripe

Look for what breaks the pattern, and there's exactly one: parking. That same May 2019 reviewer, otherwise 5 stars, adds "only issue I've really had is parking for night classes." It's the sole concrete complaint on the whole page, and it's a logistics note, not a knock on the gym itself. If you're driving to an evening session, plan for it.

What the 5.0 is really telling you

A perfect 5.0 looks impressive, but it's built on 31 ratings, and I'd read it with that in mind. A single 1-star review would drop this to roughly 4.87. That's not a warning - it just means the number is fragile in the way small samples always are. What holds it up is that the written reviews are specific: they name coaches, describe the training, and one person even documents changing gyms to get here. Specific praise ages better than a bare five. Would you rather see a perfect score or read why someone switched?

What's missing

No price appears anywhere - not a drop-in rate, not a monthly figure. There are no posted hours in the listing at all, which matters because class-based gyms run on a schedule, not open-door hours. And there's no mention of beginner intro programs, though several reviews stress the place is beginner-friendly. Anyone serious should use the website or visit to get the class timetable and pricing.

Who it's not for

If you want a machine-based gym, a quiet solo workout, or open-gym hours to drop in whenever, this isn't built for that. It's a coached striking program. It's also physically demanding by every account, so a total beginner should expect real work from day one - which the reviews say is welcomed, not punished.

If you are looking for LEGIT and AUTHENTIC Muay Thai, this is the place. The style the gym and its amazing coaches teach is as close to the real Muay Thai you learn in Thailand. Kru Ray, Kru Joe, and all the staff are some of the nicest people you will meet. They treat all their students equally and provide a great atmosphere to learn and improve yourself. I switched to this gym from a different one in the area and it has been the best decision i have ever made. Highly recommended!!

A true martial arts gym. Be prepared to come and put in work. However, they are extremely friendly and welcoming to all levels. There is no doubt that walking up the steps for the first time and hearing people yelling and hitting pads will make you feel intimidated. Don't be. You've come to the right place to learn. Only issue I've really had is parking for night classes.
