LA Fitness has a lot going for it. Clean facilities, plenty of equipment, and generally a nice atmosphere, and the gym is well maintained. My biggest complaint is the temperature inside the gym. It often feels uncomfortably hot, especially during workouts, which can make exercising less enjoyable. For a facility of this size, I would expect better climate control. If they could keep the gym cooler, it would be a much better experience overall.
I was a member at this LA Fitness for a year before cancelling. I workout 3-4x a week and stopped going for most of my workouts because of how hot it is inside the gym. They do not run the AC hard enough and I had to stop doing cardio here altogether because it was so uncomfortably warm. Even just lifting weights I'd be soaked in sweat after half an hour. I figured it was because of a bad HVAC system, but oddly even in the winter the gym is still hot and stuffy when it's cold outside. Half the reason I pay for a gym membership is to use the cardio equipment in the summer when it's too hot to run outside in Houston. Otherwise worth noting that there is no pool even though it's advertised online in pictures. The equipment for the most part all worked fine and it was reasonably clean even if a little dated. It would be worth the price if it weren't so ridiculously hot inside the gym all of the time.
Even though I pay about the same price of other members with signature club access I was charged $10 for a one day pass. I asked what other amenities they have compared to regular LA fitness clubs and I was told “we have towels and soap for the showers” lol . I was expecting cryo or recovery rooms at the least. No wonder why so many clubs are closing and losing to EOS fitness. Good luck staying afloat.
Before signing and paying for personal training, read the contract three times. What you promise and what's in the contract don't always match. I wasn't informed that I was signing up for six months of treatment and couldn't change anything after that. If you want to freeze your training payments for several months, you'll have to pay additional fees. Horrible.
9:45 AM. I showed up because Google says this gym should be open… and it’s closed. Honestly, it’s frustrating because it’s not just the service or the condition of the place—it’s that they don’t even stick to their own hours. You pay for a membership, plan your morning, drive all the way here, and they waste your time like it doesn’t matter. And before anyone tries to blame the weather or a “storm warning”: there’s no snow here. Yeah, it’s a little chilly, but nothing extreme. I was recently in New York with heavy snow and gyms were still open. Even Costco is open today, but this gym isn’t. This is just disrespectful. You’re paying for a service and still losing days because of poor management. If they can’t even follow their own schedule, what are we paying for?
