After more than a 100 visits to Bristol Harbourside Gym I can sincerely say that this venue has the vibe and great facilities. Great staff and value for money. Brilliant
Plenty of high quality equipment, spacious, not normally too busy and 24/7. 4 stars because when they have fitness classes, it is unbearably loud even through (high end) noise cancelling headphones, and can be heard across the entire gym on both floors.
Either stop advertising early morning classes, or cancel them and notify those who have booked on with a minimum of four hours notice (same as members have to give) if there are not enough people pre-booked to warrant running the class. Today was the fifth time this month (out of eight visits) that I've turned up for a class only for it not to run. I know it's not PureGyms fault that people aren't booking these, but given that members have to give a minimum of four hours notice when cancelling a class, it's only reasonable that the gym extends us the same courtesy if the class is undersubscribed.
I used to love this gym before the refurbishment, now I'm considering changing my home gym. The spin classes were the absolute highlight because unlike most places the bikes weren't shoved in a dark corner and the beautiful view made a hard workout much more enjoyable. Now that whole corner has been turned into a women's only workout space. As a woman myself I'm all for safe workout spaces for women but did that really have to be at the expense of the wonderful spining area? The new layout is genuinely upsetting. The Torbay and Plymouth Alexandra rd Pure gyms have incorporated the women's workout space brilliantly, without taking away from already established areas, Harbourside could learn from them
Place is safety hazard - under construction but still open even outside of staffed hours. Dust everywhere badly set off an asthma epsidode, and itchy eyes and face / nose - lots of hazards left around , including bladed tools within reach of members any independent gyms get these kind of refurbs done in a few days so they can re open safely Gym is on level 5 and both lifts broken unclear where gym is from stair case as it's linked to many buildings I'd like to find out who to email to get my day pass refunded
