Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre

I usually have a great experience at this centre when playing badminton on the courts with my friend but recently this one really rude brown receptionist lady just kept disturbing me and my friends. For instance, I was at the courts with my friends after school and she refused to beleive we had a booking and said "This is not a charity just go and play at your school." We found this really annoying and with her tone and the way she treated us, it honestly ruined our moods to play. We're paying for the space, not for her trust in us. And again today, I was at the courts with my friends and this time there was a few more of us and as all the other courts were empty, we assumed we'd be able to play on another court until other people arrive that may have booked that court. Not a single person turned up to play on the courts except us so we thought there'd be no problem. However, the same lady comes in and shouts at us to not play on 2 courts unless we have payed for 2 courts and I asked what the difference is just to then be shouted at with "Do not argue with me or else I'll take your equipment away." First of all we were playing with our OWN equipment that we bought ourselves so she's actually threatening us by theft in a way. I found this really inappropriate and once again ruined the mood of just having fun. With her tone and behaviour you'd think she's the one that owns the centre and that she's paid for all the equipment or that it comes out of her pay but in all honesty she's purely doing this for no real reason. A few weeks ago I was at the courts with my friends and this lady wasn't there that day and instead we were able to play for longer on different courts as the actual workers (yellow top red short) said they have no problem with us playing for a little extra time as long as we don't interfere with other peoples timings which we abided.

The centre is big with good classes although the changing rooms are dirty and the gym level near the treadmills always smells of urine. The worst bit is that the customer service, particularly the swim manager is so rude. I had a recent enquiry that was met with the rudest reply i have ever received from a professional. I am weighing up whether i should call it a day and quit. Would be a shame to leave a convenient gym but I'd also never have to deal with that nonsense again...

Outdoor pool and lifeguards great. Noone on Reception on arrival, ticket didn't scan but luckily the gate was open so could walk in. Changing rooms not good, toilets absolutely filthy, have never seen a cleaner there whatever time I go. Showers not good enough for a decent hair wash, go expecting to shower at home. This time one toilet cubicle was even missing a door. Grim

My daughter has a lessons a few times a week here and we like to sit in the cafe for a cup of tea with my friends while we wait for our daughter but last week for some reason someone who run the cafe, has reduced the cup size in half 😂 So just think it is unfair to pay full price for half size the cup!! So be careful if you will order a cup of tea in take away cup, you will get half size cup compared to any cafe like Greggs, Costa or anywhere else!! 😂😂
