A powerlifting-friendly gym that plays metal

Mishmash Fitness Center in Brno holds 4.6 across 356 reviews, and it's a genuine strength gym with a real powerlifting corner. A June 2019 review lists the goods: "powerlifting zone, 50kg plates, heavy dumbbells, two power racks, deadlifting platform... one of the best gyms in Brno, if not the best." If you deadlift heavy, that inventory is the reason to look here. (The listing also tags it as a tanning studio and spa, so there's more under the roof than iron.)

What members agree on

Two things come up again and again: the equipment does the job, and the music is different. A July 2024 review: "The equipment is a bit older, but it's kept reasonably well. There's a good variety of machines so you can find everything that you need. My favorite thing about Mishmash is the fact that quite often rock/metal music is played... much better than the generic techno and pop you get in most gyms." If you've ever tried to hit a heavy set to bubblegum pop, you know why that lands.

Crowding is manageable if you time it. A February 2025 review: "not very big but still it doesn't feel too crowded with all the machines... During peak hours you have to wait sometimes to use a machine but there's plenty more to keep yourself busy with." So peak times exist, but the floor absorbs them.

The one practical warning

If you don't speak Czech, note this. An April 2024 review liked the place - "They accept cards, multisport card and have several options of membership" - but flagged "the only disadvantage is the lack of english speaking personnel." So the Multisport card works and payment is flexible, but sorting a membership question in English might be slow. For a traveler or an expat, that's the detail I'd plan around, and I always do.

What the average measures

Every visible written review is five stars, yet the overall sits at 4.6 across 356 - which tells you the quiet ratings run a little cooler than the loud ones. Where do the sub-five ratings come from? Probably the older-but-maintained equipment, at this volume. Nobody here describes a bad experience; they describe an honest, well-run strength gym with aging kit.

What's missing

No review states a membership price, though multiple confirm the Multisport card is accepted and there are "several options." English-language support isn't guaranteed. Whether the tanning and spa services cost extra isn't spelled out. Call +420 778 424 627 or check mismasfitness.cz for current rates.

Who it's not for

Members who need pristine, latest-generation machines. Anyone who needs English-speaking front-desk help for a complex sign-up. People who want a quiet, music-free floor - metal is a feature here, not a bug.

FAQ

This gym is not very big but still it doesn't feel too crowded with all the machines. The receptionists are very friendly, especially the lady with short blonde hair. During peak hours you have to wait sometimes to use a machine but there's plenty more to keep yourself busy with. This gym has a certain atmosphere that you just can't find somewhere else.

A nice equipped gym. The people are nice as well. They accept cards, multisport card and have several options of membership. The only disadvantage is the lack of english speaking personnel.

Awesome gym, including powerlifting zone, 50kg plates, heavy dumbbells, two power racks, deadlifting platform... I'd say one of the best gyms in Brno, if not the best
