Without exaggeration, my life has been transformed by Emily from Pilates Power. I had been struggling with back, hip, neck, and shoulder pain, misalignment, and related poor sleep for over 10 years. I tried numerous physiotherapists (and osteopaths) over the years, many of whom were Pilates-trained, but they all gave me different diagnoses and exercises to do. Some made me worse, others made no difference. I remained stuck. I thought, "This is it! I'm 45, and I'm going to be in some level of pain daily for the rest of my life." I couldn’t walk or sit at a desk for longer than 20 minutes without pain. It was very depressing. Then, I was referred to Emily by a physiotherapist I knew from London (whom I had seen years ago), due to her level of expertise and qualifications through Polestar. He insisted on the Pilates teacher having Polestar qualifications due to the rigorous training and science-based methods they use. I had tried Pilates classes in the past and also had one-on-one sessions in Northern Ireland too. I really couldn’t see how more Pilates could help. However, Emily is in a different class. She is beyond excellent! From our first session, I could tell she has a very keen eye for imbalances in my body. She adapted each session based on how my body was doing. It took time and dedication on my part to do the homework she gave me consistently (which was never too much and manageable for my lifestyle). It wasn’t a straight line (what change is!). But things started to change! Today, I am so happy to say that, never mind just being able to walk as far as I wish without pain—I have started running again and I’m doing weights in the gym, all with Emily’s careful guidance on how to support myself. I feel strong in my body and am no longer worried that my back is going to give out. I can also just do everyday things like clean the house again—vacuuming used to kill my back and hips. I am no longer in pain, and I am sleeping well again. Emily is so patient, kind, warm, and encouraging. I CANNOT recommend Emily highly enough.
