AB Fitness in Dubai shows 4.5 from 653 reviews, and its five written reviews split in a way worth taking seriously: four describe a spacious, view-blessed gym at its best, and the fifth, from the same recent window, describes a sharp decline in basic hygiene.
A Returning Member's Warning
The most important review here is the one-star account posted as "M," June 2026: "Used to come to this gym 4 years ago and it used to be amazing, everything super new and clean. I came back recently to check the gym again thinking about rejoining and when I entered I was shocked at how much it changed. First of all it smells disgusting and the staff there don't seem to care about personal hygiene, secondly the ladies bathroom and changing rooms were in a shocking state." I want to be precise about what this is: one former member's account of a single return visit, not a confirmed ongoing state. But it's specific - smell, staff hygiene, and the state of the ladies' facilities - and it's the newest written review on this page, which matters.
Reviews From the Same Months, Describing Something Else
That's what makes this page genuinely hard in short: three other reviews, from December 2025 through May 2026 - overlapping almost exactly with M's June 2026 visit - describe a gym in good condition. Hamed Mohamed, December 2025: "It's spacious, well-equipped, and has a nice view near the Marina... Special thanks to Natalie - she's always helpful, friendly, and ready to assist anyone." Marc FP, May 2026, a month before M's review: "Inside is very big and has all the machines and even an outside pool. The vibe is energetic and clean. The personal is very helpful specially Mina who showed me all the facilities."
I'm not resolving this contradiction. It's possible M's experience was specific to one visit, one day, or one part of the facility - the ladies' changing rooms specifically - while the general gym floor others describe stayed in the condition Marc and Hamed found. It's also possible standards genuinely slipped in the weeks between these reviews. Both are plausible; neither is provable from five reviews.
What Makes This Gym Distinctive When It's Working
Muhammed Ali, November 2025, four stars, describes the scale: "One of the largest gyms in the area - spacious, well-equipped, and conveniently located. The facility offers a vast parking area... It features an Olympic-size swimming pool, modern amenities, and stunning views overlooking the Dubai Port." Sukhjinder Sahota, January 2026, adds: "The stunning views you get while working out - it's a refreshing change from the usual gym scenery." An Olympic pool, Marina and Port views, and a large equipment floor come up across multiple independent reviewers, which is a stronger claim than any single review's praise.
What's Missing
No review states a membership price. Nobody explains what changed, if anything, between M's positive experience around 2022 and the hygiene problems described in the June 2026 review. Given the contradiction between recent reviews, I'd personally ask to walk through the changing rooms specifically before signing anything, rather than relying on the gym floor alone as a condition check.
Who It's Not For
Anyone who needs certainty about current hygiene standards, especially in the women's facilities - the most recent detailed account describes a serious decline, while other recent accounts don't mention it at all. Anyone pricing this out sight unseen, since no review gives a figure.
