This is an exceptional studio. So exceptional that I travel one hour across London to go to its classes. Laura is one of the many exceptional teachers here. She is warm, encouraging, ambitious for her pupils and utterly professional. Her 90 minutes Bikram classes (and those of Anna) are delightful. If I have one small criticism, it would be that I would like more 90 minute Bikram classes to choose from. However, there is a terrific and full range of yoga classes at this excellent studio.

I have visited this studio as a guest for Cindy’s class and she was absolutely fantastic. However, I recently decided to go in for a vinyasa class taught by Kester on the open day last week (28th Feb). I feel bad for anyone who has this has their first impression of the studio. I have never been in a class by a teacher that had seemed so negative and grumpy about teaching the class. He started with a meditation and told us that we never feel unsafe… which is simply untrue and insulting for a man to tell a class of mostly women this. He then went on to say that we do not have anything to worry about in life except our phone notifications and what colour clothes we are wearing! This instructor does not know anything about the people in the class or what happens in their personal lives, and it came across very judgemental and insulting. The start of the mediation should be for setting an intention, not making the people feel bad about themselves. I couldn’t quite believe what I was hearing. This is also terrible for marketing too, especially on an open day! Once the class started, the music was moody and depressing. The positions were standard for an open day vinyasa, except some random more advanced poses such as crow to which he offered no alternative poses for those who cannot do this. I went along with it despite the uncomfortable atmosphere. The music during savasana had changed from the depressing music but it was so loud that it was uncomfortable to listen to. I have been practicing for years and I have never left a class feeling worse than I did when I entered like I did for this class. This is nothing against the studio itself, and I have always enjoyed the classes I have attended in the past. However, I would suggest that the owners have a look into what kind of people they are allowing to instruct here.
