Yoga Ashram Ananda Oristano

I loved my first experience of India and an ashram with Akhanda Yoga. Both ashrams are beautiful. The practices, workshops and kirtans all really brought me back to myself. Many thanks to the Akhanda team. Will be back. :)

I am so happy that I had the chance to stay at this ashram in Rishikesh. I really enjoyed the daily 5 AM meditations followed by a yoga class. We also had the opportunity to book a stay at their Sri Jungle Ashram, which I highly recommend. I'm not a big foodie, but the meals were amazing. I am gluten-free, and they kindly made special buckwheat chapatis for me—they were the best! Regarding the cleanliness of the rooms, it was okay. It could have been better, but it was still acceptable. The location is amazing—within walking distance of Sai Ghat by the river and several temples. There are also many cute cafes with a great vibe around the area that I highly recommend visiting. Finally, we had the chance to meet Guru ji, Dr. Yogrishi. He is a very kind and respectful person, and I hope I will have the opportunity to visit him again someday. Overall, it was a memorable stay, and I would definitely love to go back someday!

During my time in Rishikesh, I had the pleasure of attending the Thursday evening Kirtan at Anand Prakash on several occasions. The ashram is beautifully cared for, and the musicians and participants come together to sing and dance in a shared expression of joy, love, and devotion. I attended regularly as walk-ins are warmly welcomed, without any fee, creating a genuine sense of community and shared wellbeing. I also had the opportunity to join one of Yogrishi Vishvketu's yoga asana classes, where the combination of clear guidance, intention, mantras, and movement made the experience truly unique and deeply memorable. An absolutely marvellous experience! Yoga teacher training was grounded, deeply rooted teachings in traditional yoga, spiritually tuned. I would have loved a lesson plan for my teacher training experience. Location is fantastic— everywhere is walkable. Cute cafes nearby and an easy walk to Laxman julha

This was our 1st visit to an ashram and we stayed 4 nights. We followed it up with a week long retreat at another ashram, then another 3 nights at a Rishikesh hotel. Overall, our stay at this ashram was positive. The rooms were nice although the mattresses were thin. The food was good and varied enough so you didn't tire of it. Great chai tea. Lunch and breakfasts were bigger/better than dinner. You sat on floormats to eat with mini tables. You washed your own dishes. The cleanliness of the floor mats could have been better. They had a beautiful yoga room and the instruction was good, however we never got to see or take a class from the guru. There aren't a lot of props, and the ones they had (mats and bolsters) were in pretty bad shape and were filthy. My suggestion would be to buy a mat when arriving in Rishikesh. The daily fire puja was interesting. The chanting (kirtan) was cancelled both nights we were there. The staff was friendly and there was a pleasant comradary with fellow yogis - when you could talk - quiet time 9 p.m. until after breakfast. Great location.
