"Make sure you wear a mouth piece."
That's a member writing in March 2026, and it's the most honest thing on this page. Triton Gym at 1400 Aviation Blvd in Redondo Beach is a boxing and kickboxing gym, and a five-star reviewer is telling you people get hit here.
It holds 4.9 from 56 reviews, running through March 2026.
Zero to Sparring, Documented
A member in March 2026: "I have been coming to this gym for over two years now and I will keep coming back. The coaching staff is great, I started from zero experience in boxing and through the different class offerings have worked my way up to the sparring sessions. John, Wyatt, Mitch, JP and the rest of the coaching staff are all great and will work with you to perfect whatever it is you need to work on. The classes vary from working on your technique to working on your fitness level, but all are fun and engaging."
That's the review I'd read twice if I were new. He's not saying it's welcoming. He's tracing a path: no experience, then classes, then sparring, over two years. A structured progression is what separates a boxing gym from a room with bags in it.
He names five coaches. That's a real staff, not one person.
The Two-Day Trial
A member in August 2020: "Just wrapped up my 2 day trial and got a membership! The atmosphere and training is great! Everyone comes together like their own community and the instructors push you to be the best version of yourself. They won't kill you with training but they will ensure you learn correctly. What you do with the knowledge and training is up to you. I highly recommend Triton Gym for anyone that wants to get in good physical shape regardless of your age or current condition."
A two-day trial existed in August 2020, and he's the only one who mentions it. Six years on, I'd confirm it still runs.
"They won't kill you with training but they will ensure you learn correctly." In a combat gym, that sentence is the whole product. Plenty of places do the opposite.
There's a Weight Room Too
A member in February 2020: "The classes are great, the coaches are very knowledgeable and encouraging and the weight room has everything I need for a well rounded workout on the days when I don't attend a class. My kickboxing and boxing technique have tremendously improved after working with John for just 2 sessions."
So it isn't classes-only. There's a weight room you can use on non-class days, and she's the only person who says so.
The Long List
A member in September 2024: "Favorite spot in the South Bay! A staple of the community. High level classes for any age, skill level, or fitness goal. You will meet so many walks of life, grow as a person and get jacked. John, Willie, Mitch, Ramiar, Tom, Yoyo, Mark, Maria, JP, Slim, Wyatt, Sal, all expert coaches. Classes around the clock, indoor/outdoor facilities, a real grit Rocky feel, and the nicest people you'll ever meet."
Twelve coaches named. Indoor and outdoor facilities.
I'll flag one thing honestly: he says "classes around the clock," but the listing says 07:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to noon at weekends. Those don't match. My guess is he means the timetable is dense within opening hours, not that the gym never closes, but that's a guess and you should check a schedule rather than trust either of us.
Note the same names recurring across years: John appears in 2020, 2024 and 2026; Mitch, Wyatt and JP in both 2024 and 2026. Coaching staff who stay for six years is a genuine signal, and it's not one a single review could give you.
What's Missing
No prices. Fifty-six reviews, no figure.
No class timetable, despite classes being the core.
Nothing about whether gloves and wraps are provided or bought.
Who It's Not For
Anyone who doesn't want to be hit. Sparring is part of the path here and a member says bring a mouthguard.
Anyone wanting a late-night gym. It closes at 19:00, and noon on Saturday and Sunday.
