Recently just went a few times with my husband. Blown away at this gym! So many workout sections. The speak easy section really takes the show. With how much upgrades they seem to be doing I won’t be surprised if the whole gym is up to this level soon. I do wish they had a cold plunge. Will be getting a membership soon once our baby is a little older and I can put him in the daycare there

So I have been coming to In Motion for almost a month now and I can say I really like it! I go during off peak hours so I never have any parking issues. The equipment is nice too! I’m still learning my way around and it’s easy to get lost because it’s so huge lol. The map is confusing to me, but it’s probably a learning curve. So I’ve been taking it one room at a time, but it’s nice and has great amenities. One thing I don’t like is that almost nobody wipes down their machines. It’s crazy compared to some of the other gyms I’ve been to in California. I’ve never seen a gym where so little people wipe things down which is a bit gross. It’s not the gyms fault, they can’t force people. It’s just a bit ick lol. Otherwise, everything else is great and the staff have been pretty nice overall.

I’m currently a member here, writing on behalf of myself and some buddies that go here as well. This is easily the most interesting gym I’ve ever belonged to. The employees? Genuinely great. Always friendly and helpful. No complaints there. Parking right now is… a competitive sport. With the ongoing construction (which I understand is temporary), it can feel like you’re circling for a spot like it’s Black Friday at the mall. They do have overflow parking, but if you’re coming at peak time, pack patience. The layout of the gym is a literal maze. The first few times I came, I felt like I needed breadcrumbs to find my way back to the front desk. It’s definitely not the most efficient design, but somehow they’ve made it work with the million different “themes” happening in each room. It’s kind of chaotic, kind of impressive. The equipment inside is either brand new or really well maintained, which I appreciate. The outdoor equipment… not so much. Being exposed to the elements has not been kind to it. They offer a lot of classes, which sounds great in theory. I’ve taken cycling and Pilates, and honestly… they weren’t great. Don’t expect a private studio experience. The instruction and overall quality just weren’t there unfortunately. I’m not the only member who feels this way either. I wish they had a way to leave tips, suggestions, reviews, or even song requests to the instructors. Now to the women’s locker room. This is my main qualm. Really the reason I decided to write a review. It just feels… gross. For starters, the entrance is right next to the men’s and so narrow that you basically have to brace for impact every time you walk in or out. Then you have to scooch sideways down the hall as you make your way into one the many corridors. It’s extremely outdated compared to the rest of the gym and has barely any actual restroom stalls, which feels wild for the size of this place. I’ve also literally had to mop up puddles myself near the lockers because apparently common sense isn’t included in the membership fee. The sauna and steam rooms have turned into the Wild West. Phones everywhere. People wearing shoes and full post workout outfits. Drying their clothes in there like it’s a laundromat. A monthly etiquette reminder email might go a long way. It honestly feels like they’re constantly starting new projects before fully finishing the old ones. There’s a never-ending construction vibe, like the gym is always in its “coming soon” era. You’d think updating the entire facility, especially the locker rooms would be priority before launching the next big expansion. Overall, it’s a solid gym with great staff and good equipment, but there are definitely some areas (ahem… bathrooms) that deserve the same update the rest of the place is getting. Also if busy gyms aren’t your vibe, I’d avoid this place unless you can come out of peak times. The definition of busy here is twice of what you’re thinking.

This place seemed so cool when I first found out about it back in 2024. I was excited to maybe join here, but then became unsure as it seemed a bit too much, even though I have seen some marvelous things out here. Then the people from this gym kept reaching out wanting to give me a deal on a membership, and I figured why not? They seem friendly enough. As a foreigner, a well traveled person who has dealt with people from all walks of life, I was surprisingly a bit unaware of the social dynamics and bigotry that could exist in a place such as this. I knew, based on the circumtances I was faced with at the time, that I would not really be there to become acquainted to anyone, so it didnt really matter much to me what anyone thought or how I needed to be or show up. As I tried to look at the bright side of things, I felt a sense of relief when I realized this place was not as high class as I once thought given that this place seems to easily breed gossip, bullying and harassment among staff and gym members. I still wonder why they welcome everyone if I did not experience that. My advice, if you are a foreigner, a minority or a single and private person, you might want to think twice before joining here. This place is highly intimidating with very young people that seem to be allowed to have full monitoring of the building, that could quickly escalate into more if not properly supervised and reprimanded. Their team does not expect them to treat everyone with respect, which does not make this place safe or comfortable to be in for everyone.

I go to this gym by default. If you’re a serious lifter I’d look elsewhere. They’ve spent probably millions on renovations and the equipment selection is still abysmal. There’s 42 smith machines (thank god), but there’s only 4 bench presses on the whole 5 acre property. Each bench is a different brand, so if you’re tracking progressive overload you have to wait for the same bench to clear each time. There’s only 6 squat racks, all different brands with different platforms and they’re smushed so close together that you can barely change your weights. Aesthetically it’s gorgeous, but I’m writing this as I wait for the only incline bench press to open up (that isn’t a smith machine). If it weren’t for the showers and daycare we would not come here. It’s like they got their equipment from a series of yard sales over the last 30 years. If the owner is reading this, please just match brands so serious lifters don’t have to wait for things to open up. You have more smith machines than the entire town of Chico could use simultaneously, but if the right 3 people come in I have to wait 30 minutes for each thing to open up.
