My phenomenal trainer Zoë Devereaux-Glover makes waking up early to go to the gym a pure delight. I suffer through her workouts, but she always makes the experience enjoyable and fun, with her positive energy and hilarious puns. Going to the gym was an intimidating and uncomfortable experience for me when I first started. After several sessions with her I feel a lot more confident at the gym, and have a better understanding of how to build and execute workouts for my fitness goals. She always takes the time to thoroughly explain how to do excercises properly and effectively. She has really made my personal fitness journey a lot easier. I don't feel like I'm doing it alone! Would definitely recommend her if you're done being a weenie

I just finished an introductory, 7 session training package with Zoe. It was a great way to get back into working out after 2 years of having to sit out due to injuries. Zoe has been very enthusiastic about getting me back in shape and toning all those muscles I almost forgot I had! She's also been great about working around my lingering injuries while still ensuring that I get a great workout. I told her at the beginning to "kick my butt" and she's done exactly that while still listening when I tell her something hurts! I feel fortunate that I was paired with Zoe, so much so that I signed up for more personal training with her along with a small group training class that she teaches. Thanks to Zoe, I'm looking forward to getting into the best shape of my life!

The most depressing gym I've ever been to. Imagine a cross between a funeral home and a prison. No music, low ceilings and very tiny. I might be biased because I am one of the members coming from the Dundas 10 location that just closed, but nevertheless I will not be returning. I'm giving three starts because despite the atmosphere, this club is very clean and does not seem to have any major issues other than it's not the type of environment in which I enjoy working out.

They closed the Yonge and Dundas Goodlife and now this is the closest one for me to workout on my lunch hour, but it's still a really long walk. Because all the Yonge and Dundas people have to go there now, the classes are way too crowded. You have to rush to get there early and fight for a spot and then it's too crowded and you're boxed in. I've been way less motivated to workout in the last few weeks as a result. They also stopped having classes at the College St location. I wish they'd stop closing locations or reducing services at their existing ones.

Of all the downtown clubs, this is my least favourite. Small and poorly laid out, it's located in a sub-basement and the lack of natural light can make for a very depressing atmosphere. The Hoist Roc-It equipment (the only GL to have it) is useless, offering a very limited range of motion. If there are more than a certain number of people working out at any given time, chances are you're going to have to wait in line. On the plus side, there's a decent amount of free weights and the change rooms are huge - almost too big for a gym this size - it's too bad the space wasn't used for the gym itself. I go there only when I'm pressed for time because it's close to home, but otherwise, it's worth going elsewhere for a much better work- out.
