Chelsea Piers Fitness

New York, United States

Cancelling requires 45 days notice. A day pass costs 107 dollars. Neither of those numbers comes from the gym; they come from members who bothered to write them down.

Chelsea Piers Fitness is at 60 Chelsea Piers, Manhattan. It holds 4.3 from 324 reviews, which is a big enough sample that the number means roughly what it says. The record runs through April 2026.

The Four-Star Who Did the Work

A member in February 2026 rated it four stars and then listed his frustrations, numbered. It's the most useful review on this page and it's worth taking apart.

"Operating hours are less than other gyms in the area. I routinely work out closer to closing time and have noticed long waits at the showers during this time. It's clear to me that there's enough demand to stay open till 11 PM on weekdays."

The listing says 05:30 to 22:00 on weekdays, 08:00 to 20:00 at weekends. He's right that it isn't a late-night gym, and he's telling you the practical consequence: everyone leaves at once and the showers back up.

"Three of the weightlifting platforms past the sand volleyball court have significant low spots at the rubber, which are well past their useful life. I'm regularly moving a trap bar to the other platforms and have seen other members also avoid these platforms."

Three platforms. Specific location. Worn rubber with low spots. He's watched other people avoid them too. That's the single most concrete equipment observation I've read tonight, and it comes from someone giving four stars.

"Membership cancellation requires 45 days notice, which I find to be particularly restrictive."

Forty-five days. That's the number to know before you sign.

Is it defensible? Partly. Notice periods exist because a gym's costs are fixed and its revenue isn't, and 30 days is fairly standard in New York. Forty-five is longer than standard. He calls it restrictive rather than dishonest, and that's the right word: it's not hidden, it's just long. Ask when the clock starts.

His fourth point is about members not racking their weights, which he says staff could check more often. He's careful to blame "the very select few members," not the gym.

What the Money Buys

A member in April 2026: "I've been a member for about two years now. The facility itself is unreal: 150,000 sq ft, a 75-foot pool, the rock wall, the indoor track, the cycling and barre classes. There's genuinely nothing else like it in NYC. Mackenzie at the front desk is an absolute gem. The Hudson River sundecks alone are worth the membership in summer."

A hundred and fifty thousand square feet. A 75-foot pool. A rock wall. An indoor track. Sundecks on the Hudson.

She's the only person who gives you the actual inventory, and the four-star independently confirms the indoor track and mentions specialty barbells and a sand volleyball court. Two people, different ratings, same building.

A visitor in April 2025: "The best gym in NYC! Facilities are top of the line. Expensive if you are a tourist visiting (107 dollars day pass), but the experience is great!"

There's your price, from April 2025. A hundred and seven dollars for one day. He flags it himself while giving five stars.

The Comparison That Counts

A member in March 2026: "Went to Equinox for years, would never go back after finding out about Chelsea Piers Fitness!"

He names the competitor he left. That's a comparison from someone who paid at both, which beats every "best gym in NYC" on this page, including his own opening line.

A member in November 2025: "The classes offered are not comparable to any other gym. You have to try Duant's Core and Glutes class and Vlad's boxing. Lost 89 lbs at this gym."

Eighty-nine pounds. That's his account, not a verified outcome, but it's a number rather than a feeling, and he names two specific classes and their coaches.

Who It's Not For

Anyone who trains after ten at night. It's shut, and a member says the showers queue before closing.

Anyone who wants to leave quickly. Forty-five days notice.

Anyone deadlifting on the three platforms past the volleyball court, going by February 2026.

I've been a member at Chelsea Piers for about two years now and honestly it never gets old. The facility itself is unreal - 150,000 sq ft, a 75-foot pool, the rock wall, the indoor track, the cycling and barre classes... there's genuinely nothing else like it in NYC. But the thing that keeps me coming back just as much as the equipment is the staff. Mackenzie at the front desk is an absolute gem - always knows your name, always has a good energy going, and actually goes out of her way to help you figure out class bookings or whatever you need. The Hudson River sundecks alone are worth the membership in summer. 10/10.

The best Gym in New York right now. You can never regret it. The facility is A1. The classes offered are not comparable to any other gym. You have to try Duant's Core and Glutes class and Vlad's boxing. Lost 89 lbs at this gym. At the front desk, David is a phenomenal leader and has a team that makes you feel like family. Super cool environment and worth every penny.

The best gym in NYC! Facilities are top of the line, the personnel is very friendly and the smoothies are just the best. Expensive if you are a tourist visiting (107$ day pass), but the experience is great!

I'm generally quite happy with the quality of the strength and cardio equipment, locker room, and access to specialty barbells and indoor track. I have however ran into a few frustrations that prevent me from giving five stars: 1. Operating hours are less than other gyms in the area. I routinely work out closer to closing time and have noticed long waits at the showers during this time. It's clear to me that there's enough demand to stay open till 11 PM on weekdays and 9-10 PM on weekends, which would also be consistent with other gyms. 2. Three of the weightlifting platforms past the sand volleyball court have significant low spots at the rubber, which are well past their useful life. I'm regularly moving a trap bar to the other platforms and have seen other members also avoid these platforms. 3. I sometimes find equipment such as plates, dumbbells, barbell collars, and cable attachments either not put away or in the wrong place. Just today I saw someone leave their sweat towel and dumbbells next to a bench after finishing their work there, and someone else moving a bench to the other side of the gym to cable machines without returning it where it belongs. It'd be beneficial for staff to more frequently check that everything is in place, and better yet for the very select few members that aren't practicing good gym etiquette to do better. 4. Membership cancellation requires 45 days notice, which I find to be particularly restrictive and leaves a sour taste in my mouth. All in all, CPF is quite an impressive facility but has room for improvement in the above areas. I would recommend to someone who would use some of the amenities that you can't find elsewhere and can conveniently get there.
