Fitness Center

Fitnesscenter Rabengasse

Wien, Austria

Fitnesscenter Rabengasse is on Rabengasse in Vienna's third district. It holds a 4.8 rating from 18 Google reviews.

Two caveats up front. The sample is small, and the record has stopped: the newest review dates from February 2019, and two are from 2016. Nothing in over seven years.

Two of the reviews are in German; my translations are marked.

The Review That Tells You Everything

A member in September 2017 wrote the best description of a gym's character I've come across tonight: "If you're looking for a bodybuilding gym, this is it. The manager is super friendly and really cares about the sport, the equipment is beautifully reminiscent of bodybuilding's 80s Golden Age. Not the place for you if you're looking to run a bit on the treadmill, but if you're looking to get shredded and make some testosterone driven gains I definitely recommend. Usually empty or sparsely filled so you usually have the place to yourself to lift and listen to music."

Every sentence there does work.

"Equipment beautifully reminiscent of bodybuilding's 80s Golden Age" is a compliment and a warning at once. It means old iron, and he means it fondly. It also means nothing modern.

"Not the place for you if you're looking to run a bit on the treadmill." That's him telling you who should leave, which is more than most reviewers manage.

"Usually empty or sparsely filled so you usually have the place to yourself." That's the selling point, and two other reviewers back it up.

Three People Say It's Quiet

A member in March 2017, four stars: "It's very friendly place, it's not busy gym and its positive point of this."

A member in November 2016 (translated from German): "Awesome sports studio! Good atmosphere, friendly management and only nice people! Not overcrowded, everything top!"

"Not busy" from one, "not overcrowded" from another, "usually empty" from a third. Three independent reviewers, across two languages, saying the same thing.

That's about as solid as an 18-rating sample can get, and an empty gym in central Vienna is a rare and specific thing to sell. Whether it's still empty in 2026, I've no idea.

The Rest

A member in February 2019, in full: "Literally THE best gym in Vienna."

A member in November 2016 (translated from German): "Great studio with cool people who definitely don't lack motivation. You always give 100% here."

Short, warm, no detail.

What's Missing, And Why It Matters More Than Usual

No opening hours. No prices. No description of the changing rooms, the showers, or anything practical.

There's a phone number, +43 1 7126459, and a Facebook page. Given that the last person wrote about this place in February 2019, that phone number is the only fact on this page I'd trust without checking.

Seven years is long enough for a small independent gym in a Vienna backstreet to have closed, changed hands, or been refitted. There's no closure flag on the listing, so I've no reason to think it's gone. I just can't tell you it's there.

Who It's Not For

Anyone wanting cardio. A member has explicitly told you to look elsewhere for a treadmill.

Anyone wanting modern machines. "80s Golden Age" is the reviewer's own phrase.

Anyone wanting classes, a pool or a sauna. Nobody mentions any.

Rabengasse 13, 1030 Vienna.

FAQ

What kind of gym is it?

Old-school bodybuilding. A member describes the equipment as reminiscent of the 1980s and says to look elsewhere if you want a treadmill.

Is it busy?

No. Three reviewers independently describe it as quiet, empty or not overcrowded, in reviews from 2016 and 2017.

What are the opening hours?

None are published. Call +43 1 7126459.

How current is the 4.8 rating?

It isn't. It's from 18 ratings, the newest review is from February 2019, and two are from 2016.
