Phong Tap the Hinh 163

Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Phong Tap The Hinh 163, branded Gymaster, in Ho Chi Minh City shows 4.7 from 107 reviews, and its five written reviews include one of the most exhaustively detailed accounts in this entire project, alongside shorter reviews that confirm the same core strengths and one recurring weak point.

An Extraordinarily Detailed, Balanced Review

M1ishkop1shko's review reads like a professional gym audit, and deserves to be quoted at length: "A slick modern tech-wired gym but far from the finished article, it is in dire need of refurbishment - the walls are full of cracks and the wooden tile flooring looks really old and worn down. Spread upon 4 floors, the locker room is very nice... well equipped with new floor tower A/C units... There's also a hot sauna room that was running, and it's the first locker room I see here with a jacuzzi, but unsure if it was included for day pass visitors - it was switched off and empty." He continues with a specific hygiene concern: "When I looked closer in the jacuzzi tub, the seats were full of hairs and debris, so that killed my zest for it right off. Also, the showers were really underwhelming - really small and the wall tiling had a lot of damp wearout and mould." Despite these specific complaints, his overall verdict is strongly positive: "This gym is exceptional value. For a 100k day pass you get a padlock and key to your locker, water dispensers with disposable cups and chilled drinkable water... The ground floor has an InBody270 body scanner, a juice bar and a small shop... I think this would be definitely in my top 20 gyms in HCMC, and one of the best value for money places I've seen here."

Confirmation of Core Equipment and Amenities

Mr Vidz & Clipz's review independently confirms much of what the detailed review describes: "Had a really good workout, had all the equipment I needed for full body training. There's deadlift platform, squat rack, bench and various machines for all body parts, also there is a dry sauna and jacuzzi. 1 day pass 100k recommended, if I was staying long term I would join for a month." That matching 100k day pass figure, confirmed independently, is a reliable, specific price point.

A Specific Membership Structure Limitation

Ray Glassors's review raises a practical planning issue: "Pretty quiet in the morning which is what I appreciate the most. Staff is friendly. Membership option is rather limited to greater-than-1-year plans, pretty affordable breaking down by month, but would be nice to have a 6-month option. Overall well equipped but ventilation in locker and shower area could use some improvements." That specific gap - no mid-length membership option - is worth knowing about directly if you're not ready to commit to a full year.

A Practical Staffing Complaint

Lena Hinton's review describes a specific frustration trying to actually sign up: "I came here to sign up on Sunday but there's no staff, I guess they don't work. I wish it was mentioned on the schedule. Place looks great tho." That's worth flagging directly if you're planning a weekend visit specifically to enroll.

What's Missing

Nothing confirms whether the jacuzzi hygiene issue and shower mould the detailed reviewer described have since been addressed. Nothing confirms whether staffing gaps on Sundays, as Lena described, are a consistent pattern.

Who It's Not For

Anyone who wants a mid-length membership commitment - plans appear limited to year-long terms with no 6-month option, according to one reviewer specifically. Anyone planning to sign up on a Sunday specifically, given one reviewer's account of finding no staff present.

3.75 out of 5 stars A slick modern tech-wired gym but far from the finished article, it is in dire need of refurbishment, the walls are full of cracks and the wooden tile flooring looks really old and worn down. Spread upon 4 floors, the locker room is very nice, I almost could hang my clothes full (needed an extra 2 inches) so the lockers are in the larger groups I've seen here . It is very well equipped with new floor tower A/C units that can be found all around this gym. There's also a hot sauna room that was on running, and It's the first locker room I see here with a JACUZZI (picture) but unsure if It was included for day pass visitors, it was switched off and empty . The toilets were surprisingly spotlessly clean and equipped with toilet paper and the basin area spotless. With that being said, when I looked closer in the jacuzzi tub, the seats were full of hairs and debris, so that killed my zest for it right off. Also, the showers were really underwhelming. Really small and the wall tiling had a lot of damp wearout and mouldy, It was well supplied with gels though. This gym, pound for pound is not really big, but it's spread on many floors, and it really has a lot of equipment without jams, I would avoid this in the rush hour though. Ventilation is great, except for cardio area that relies on machine bespoke fans, which from the models in question, are really flimsy. There are many A/C towers you can power on at will and some at the ceiling. After seeing real garbage here (read my other reviews) I think this gym is exceptional value. For 100k day pass you get a padlock+key to your locker, water dispensers with disposable cups and chilled drinkable Vlyawa water. I didn't get towels but this is one of the very few gyms I've seen with sanitising sprays on the floors, which promotes good hygiene habits. The equipment is mostly fine, but only one smith cage , and the elliptical I tried was playing up with electric shortcircuiting. The ground floor has InBody270, a juice bar and a small shop selling mixing equipment and other appliances, like in a shopping mall. Also, some massage chairs. On each floor there are nice settee areas by the elevator. I think this would be definitely in my top 20 gyms in HCMC , and one of the best value for money places I've seen here.
