GoodLife Fitness at Lansdowne Park is on Exhibition Way in Ottawa. It holds a 4.2 rating from 233 Google reviews, and there's one thing here you won't find on most gym pages: a room where your kids go while you train, staffed by people members write about by name.
The JUMP Room
A member last week: "I visit the JUMP room often and Vanessa and her family are so awesome. Always make you feel so welcome and they are so great with the kids. My kids love going and seeing them and they always have the room under control."
"Always have the room under control" is the sentence that matters. Any parent who has left a child somewhere knows the difference between supervised and controlled.
If you have young children and you've been trying to find an hour to train, that's the entire review you needed to read.
Everyone Names Lilly
Three separate reviewers name the same front-desk staff member.
"Lily for example is amazing, above and beyond kind, caring and friendly!" "Lilly has been amazing! Every morning I am greeted with a smile and she is always my go to person when I have any questions." And from a member of nearly three years: "We are always greeted by the staff at the front desk when we arrive, usually Lilly, who is really great."
That last one is the useful one, because three years is long enough to stop being charmed. They also name the trainers who did their induction, AJ and Andrew, describing them as knowledgeable about the equipment.
I noticed the same naming pattern at the Oakville branch, with a different staff member. Across a chain, that either means GoodLife hires well at the desk or asks members for reviews. I can't tell which from the record, and it doesn't much change what you'd experience.
What Nobody Tells You
Here's where this page runs out of road. Nobody describes the equipment. Nobody mentions the size of the floor, whether there's a squat rack, how busy it gets at 18:00, or what it costs.
Two hundred and thirty-three reviews, and the record is almost entirely about staff and classes. A member says "the classes are awesome and the instructors very caring" without naming a single class.
So if you're choosing on atmosphere and childcare, this record is rich. If you're choosing on kit, it's empty, and I'd go and look.
Who It Doesn't Suit
If you want to walk in, put headphones on and be invisible, a gym whose members write paragraphs about being greeted every morning may not be your happy place. That's not a criticism, it's a temperament question.
Hours and Contact
No opening hours or phone number appear in the Google listing. The branch page lives at goodlifefitness.com under Ottawa, Lansdowne Park, which carries the timetable and membership rates.

Yes, a supervised JUMP room. A parent describes the staff as great with kids and says they keep the room under control.
What are the classes like?
A member calls them awesome with caring instructors, but no review names a single class or time.
What's the equipment like?
Nobody on record describes it. That's a real gap in a 233-review sample.
Is the staff friendly?
Consistently, yes. Three members name the same front-desk person, including one who has been a member nearly three years.
