This is a national stadium, not a gym

If you came here looking for a place to train, stop. The listing for "Olimpiyskiy Sportivnyy Kompleks" in Kyiv is the NSC Olimpiyskiy - a 70,000-seat national stadium tagged as a stadium and event venue, home arena of Dynamo Kyiv. Its 4.7 average rests on 20,742 ratings, and every review I can read is about matchdays, seats, and architecture. Nobody describes a weight room or a training floor.

What people actually rate

The reviews measure the experience of watching an event, not working out. A May 2018 visitor set the scene: "huge modern stadium with 70,000 seats. underground and above-ground parking. hotels, pubs and medical clinics all around," and pointed out the on-site Klichko brothers boxing museum. That's tourism, not a session.

Where the voices agree - and where they warn you

Two independent reviews, more than a year apart, land on the same complaint: the cold. An October 2021 fan wrote the stadium "does get very cold in the winter months as the stadium is open roofed and the walls aren't full enclosed." A November 2018 visitor, rating it three stars, said the same about the indoor areas: "it was cold inside the building (no heaters). There were also no outlets." When two strangers flag the same thing across three years, that's a pattern, not a bad day.

An October 2020 review carries a quiet marker of its moment: "i was so happy to finally be back at our stadium last weekend. it's been 7 months." That seven-month gap is the shape of the 2020 shutdown written into one sentence - I'm naming the shape, not guessing the cause.

What that 20,742 measures

A number that large means the average is stable - one bad night can't move 4.7. But read what it rates: sightlines, staff, comfort, parking, atmosphere. An August 2021 review praised the "aerial and graceful architecture" and the view. So which number are you actually reading here? If you want to know whether it's a good place to see a football match, the sample is enormous and the answer is yes. If you want to know whether you can train here, the reviews simply don't answer that.

What's missing

No review mentions gym equipment, memberships, or fitness classes, because that's not what this venue is. There's no price for a training session because there isn't one on offer here. A May 2018 note also flags the "unfinished Sheraton hotel... empty and ghostly," so don't expect the whole complex to be polished.

Who it's not for

Anyone hunting for a daily workout spot. Leg day at a 70,000-seat arena? That's not what this is. It's a destination stadium - great for a match or a tour, wrong for a training routine.

FAQ

Can I work out at Olimpiyskiy?

The reviews don't describe any public gym, weights, or fitness classes. It reads as a national stadium and event venue, so contact the venue directly if you believe a fitness facility exists on site.

Why does it have over 20,000 reviews?

It's one of Ukraine's largest stadiums and hosts major football and public events, so the rating reflects spectators, not gym members.

What do visitors complain about?

The most repeated gripe is cold - the stadium is open-roofed, and multiple reviewers say winter matches and indoor areas get chilly.

huge modern stadium with 70,000 seats. underground and above-ground parking. hotels, pubs and medical clinics all around. there is a huge square at the stadium to keep the same huge queue. now it is the home arena of «Dynamo Kyiv» but we are happy to invite all of you to the Champions League final. besides, you can at the same time visit the Klichko brothers museum at the stadium (champions in super-heavyweight boxing). one drawback, this is the unfinished Sheraton hotel. it is empty and ghostly like Chernobyl.

The sports stadium is a big complex, and there are many fields outside, and two smaller or 1 professional inside. We went in the fall, and it was cold inside the building (no heaters). There were also no outlets so you could not really plug in any devices if need be charged. The school is broken down and chipping but still nice. Altogether my experience was nice. The fields are turf inside, and grass outside. Nice place.
