Sqf Sentrum Squash and Fitness

Norway

SQF Sentrum Squash and Fitness in Oslo shows 4.4 from 205 reviews, and its five written reviews reveal a genuinely sharp split: solid praise for the facility and equipment itself, sitting alongside detailed, specific complaints about membership cancellation and court booking access.

A Serious, Detailed Complaint About Cancellation Practices

Wes's review is the most severe account here, and worth reading in full: "Exploitative membership practises. If you pay monthly and cancel, they try to force you to pay for next month as well. Of course you cannot cancel online but must start an email thread. If you stop your card being charged they do not cancel your membership but instead instantly escalate to credit collection. Accompanies a pervading cheapness to the whole facility, obsessed with getting members to close doors on each other and pay for breathing too much air." I'd flag this directly as a specific, serious business practice complaint - not about the gym floor itself, but about what happens when you try to leave. Worth reading the cancellation terms closely before signing up, given how specific this account is about the process.

A Recurring Complaint About Court Booking Priority

Azamat Sobirov's review raises a different, more structural issue: "Nice place, staff is helpful. Sometimes, even if you pay monthly subscription you can't book for 17:00-19:00 because people who want to pay extra can book long time before - with subscription you can only book 1 day before. Other than that everything is good." Zelimir Kucina's review makes a similar point more bluntly: "Memberships are ridiculous. Staff is hinting constantly to buy something. It's almost impossible to book a court even as a member... so you're asking yourself, what's the point of being a member?" Two independent reviewers, both specifically describing a tiered booking system where standard members get squeezed out of prime evening hours by those paying extra, is worth taking seriously if squash court access during peak hours matters to you.

Genuine Praise for the Gym Itself

Ben Campbell's review offers a clean counterpoint: "Nice gym run by friendly people. Affordable memberships and good equipment. Highly recommended for those in central Oslo." Alex Gli's review adds a specific, practical detail: "Local gym. Not crowded before noon which I love! Very clean space and showers. Hope that sauna will be on soon."

What's Missing

Nothing confirms whether the specific cancellation process Wes described has since changed. Nothing confirms whether the sauna Alex was waiting on has since been turned back on, or whether the tiered court-booking system that frustrated two other reviewers has been adjusted.

Who It's Not For

Anyone who wants a straightforward, easy cancellation process - one detailed reviewer describes real difficulty canceling, including an escalation to credit collection. Anyone specifically relying on squash court access during peak evening hours as a standard member, since at least two reviewers describe being squeezed out by a pay-extra priority booking system.

Thor Olsens gate 5B, 0177 Oslo, Norway. The website is sqf.no. Open Sunday 09:00-22:00, Monday through Thursday 06:30-23:00, Friday 06:30-21:00, Saturday 09:00-18:00.

FAQ

Is cancellation straightforward?

Not according to at least one detailed reviewer, who describes a difficult process involving email-only cancellation requests and an escalation to credit collection when a card was stopped instead.

Can standard members book squash courts during peak hours?

Not easily, according to two independent reviewers, who describe a tiered system where members paying extra get priority booking well before standard subscribers.

Is the gym itself well-regarded?

Yes, separately from the membership and booking complaints - multiple reviewers praise the equipment, cleanliness, and low crowding, especially before noon.

Is there a sauna?

At least one recent reviewer was still waiting for the sauna to be turned back on - worth confirming its current status directly.

Exploitative membership practises. If you pay monthly and cancel, they try to force you to pay for next month as well. Of course you cannot cancel online but must start an email thread. If you stop your card being charged they do not cancel your membership but instead instantly escalate to credit collection. Accompanies a pervading cheapness to the whole facility, obsessed with getting members to close doors on each other and pay for breathing too much air. I've been a member for a while and just cancelling over summer has been such a bitter experience I'll certainly not rejoin this winter.
