If you are reading these reviews in order to find a legit Martial arts Academy...look no further. John Simons is a rare find of an instructor that brings you world class, upper echelon/top shelf jiu jitsu & MMA training. My son has trained at the academy for about 2-3 years now and I must mention that when you are there, you feel a strong sense of a family oriented atmosphere. It has been quite gratifying to watch my son's character grow and learn key traits to help him through life as John, his family and instructors at Odyssey have helped him to do so. A rare find of a family atmosphere that brings the level of training that is brought to the table.

Update: I have been involved with Odyssey Martial Arts for over 8 years now. I have three children who all continue to benefit from their training at Odyssey, my youngest is still training there several days per week. Between the 3 kids, we have accumulated countless hours of training, thousands of matches, many many championship medals, and a few all-out MMA fights in the cage! In all that time, we have not had a single injury. I credit the knowledge and professionalism of John Simons III along with the constant and dedicated presence of the rest of the Odyssey staff. You will find that the instructors are always focused on the students and that all competitors are taught respect, discipline, incredible technique, and safety in an open and accepting environment. Top notch, professional, and ethical folks run this academy. 1year ago: My kids have been a part of the Odyssey program for more than 7 years. They have a great after school program and summer camp as well. One big distinction that sets Odyssey apart is their support and respect for their female competitors. I have one daughter and two sons, and can honestly say that she enjoyed it and trained just as hard as the boys. All three have won multiple competition medals, belts, and swords as well. But more than the championship wins, they've earned a level of self-respect and confidence that will see them well into adulthood.

Excellent kids and adults programs! My Daughter and husband have attended Odyssey for over 5 years now. While training with the great instructors my daughter has learned discipline and fitness, all while having an enjoyable time. She also attends the after school program and in the summer she has also attended the summer program they offer at the academy. The kids all love their time at Odyssey and grow together as a family. You will not find a better group for you or your kids to train with! I highly recommend this academy!

John Simons is a knowledgeable and great jiu-jitsu / MMA teacher, I will be forever grateful of his tutelage. I appreciated my time training at Odyssey MMA and always found a caring and nurturing environment (even as an adult). The kids/junior programs were top-notch and the little tykes from years ago have grown into respectful young men and women. As a service member I moved around quite a bit training in many places, Odyssey will always be among the best gyms I've been in. If I still lived in the King William, VA area I would still be training at Odyssey MMA.

I've known the Simons Family for over a decade and the professionalism and quality of training that they provide is second to none! They provide training that encompasses simple self defense techniques all the way to tactical military training. Odyssey Martial Arts has the best family environment I've ever seen and even have 3 generations of their own family involved in this program!
