Five pounds for a day pass. That's the one hard fact on this page, and it's from May 2019, so treat it as a historical price rather than a quote.
Volt Gym is on Seafire Way in Burscough, Ormskirk. It shows 5.0 from 44 reviews, and the record stops in August 2020.
That date is worth naming. A gym whose reviews end in the middle of 2020 has a pandemic-shaped gap, and I'm not going to guess what happened next. There's no closure flag on the listing. There's also no phone number, which makes checking harder than it should be.
The Day Pass
A visitor in May 2019: "Amazing equipment, good music, friendly people. Just wish I lived closer so I could train full time here. Five pound day pass is great value for money."
He's the only person who names a price, and he's not a member. He's someone who dropped in, liked it, and went home wishing he lived nearer.
That's a useful perspective precisely because he has nothing invested. He's not defending a membership he's already paid for.
What Everyone Else Says, and Why It's Thin
A member in August 2020: "Great place. Very friendly gym, loads of equipment."
A member in March 2020: "Great staff, great facilities. I actually look forward to training."
A member in February 2020: "Brilliant gym. Everything from the staff to the variety of equipment is exceptional."
A member in November 2019: "Best gym I've been to. Great range of equipment, friendly staff, good value."
Look at those four together. Every single one says the same two things: the equipment is good and the staff are friendly. Not one names a machine, a brand, a class, or a weight.
"Best gym I've been to" from November 2019 is the closest thing to a comparison anyone offers, and he doesn't say what he's comparing against. That's an opinion wearing the costume of evidence.
I could stretch this into six hundred words. It wouldn't tell you anything the four sentences above don't.
About That 5.0
Forty-four reviews, none below five stars. That's a small sample, and one bad experience would move it visibly.
I don't have a selection story to offer you here, because there's nothing in the record to build one from. Nobody says whether it's a small independent, a big box, staffed or unstaffed. Forty-four people liked it and mostly said so in one line each.
What This Record Doesn't Have
No opening hours at all. No phone number. No classes mentioned by anyone. No equipment named despite five people praising it. No membership price, only the drop-in figure from 2019.
And nothing at all since August 2020.
Who It's Not For
Anyone who can't verify it's trading. No phone, no hours, six years of silence. I'd check voltgym.co.uk before driving to Burscough.
Anyone who needs specifics before committing. This page genuinely hasn't got them.
