The most valuable review on this page is the one-star, and it ends with concrete advice: ask for a trial class before you pay.
Arijit's Workout is on Chowringhee Road in Bhowanipore, Kolkata. It shows 4.1 from 48 reviews, running through July 2025.
The Complaint You Can Act On
A member in April 2019, one star: "They have been planning to renovate the place since 3 months, still not renovated. After joining I came to know they have been saying the same for past years to all the clients. The place looks quite shady. Even the changing room and toilets are not up to the mark. Although training is quite good. They don't allow you to see the classes before paying the fees. Do once ask for trial classes before paying the fees. Only if money is the factor, then join it."
Read what he does there. He gives it one star and still says "the training is quite good." That split makes me trust him more, not less. He's not trying to burn the place down; he's separating what worked from what didn't.
His checkable claim: you can't view a class before paying. That's a fact about how they sell, not an opinion about the vibe, and it's the single most actionable thing on this page. If you turn up and they show you round, his complaint has aged out. If they don't, he's told you exactly what to insist on.
The renovation promise is his second-hand account of what other clients told him, and he says so himself. I'm not treating that as established.
The Two Reviews That Look Alike
Now the awkward part, and I want to be careful here.
A member in April 2014: "I was looking for a good slimming center in Kolkata for addressing health issues that appeared from my obesity. After doing a lot of research I got myself enrolled here. I must admit now, that was a right decision I took. The moment I got my physical training plan charted out, I was constantly being monitored by an expert and knowledgeable personal trainer. Thanks to him that most of the health problems arising from my obesity became manageable."
A member in February 2019: "I was looking for a yoga center in Kolkata for addressing health issues that appeared from my fat and obesity. After doing a lot of research I got myself enrolled in Arijit's workout. I must admit now, that was a right decision I took. The moment I started my yoga classes I started feeling the changes and the best part was I was constantly being monitored by an expert and knowledgeable personal trainer. And I would say a special thanks to him that most of the health problems arising from my obesity became manageable."
Those are five years apart and nearly the same text. Same opening, same "after doing a lot of research," same "I must admit now, that was a right decision I took," same "constantly being monitored by an expert and knowledgeable personal trainer," same closing about obesity-related problems becoming manageable.
I'm not accusing anyone of anything, and I can't tell you how this happened. Ordinary explanations exist: someone copied a review they found persuasive, or a template circulated. Less ordinary ones exist too. What I can tell you is what's in front of me, which is two reviews five years apart sharing a skeleton, and you can weigh that yourself.
The Review Worth Believing
A member in October 2021: "It's been 7 months since I joined the classes. They provide a combination of yoga, Pilates and other cardio exercises. Arijit sir is a very responsible instructor and a strict one as well. I lost a lot of weight. It's worth it."
Seven months in, and she tells you the actual mix: yoga, Pilates, cardio. She also calls the instructor strict, which is a real detail rather than a compliment. Nobody in a template writes "strict."
That's the only review here that reads like a person describing their own experience in their own words.
The Two-Star From Someone Who Never Went
A reviewer in July 2025, two stars: "I haven't been to the gym yet, but the photos on Google Maps definitely made me not want to go. I hope you will make some changes soon. This is 2025, images have become important."
He says it himself: he's never been. So this rates the photos, not the gym. It's the newest review on the record and it's dragging the average down on the basis of a picture gallery.
