Read this before you join for the gym

Continental Fitness Spa in central Timisoara is more spa-and-pool than iron paradise, and the reviews make that split obvious. The single most useful review, a three-star from December 2025, is honest about its own limits: "I just go for the swimmingpool, so I can't comment on the gym part." That's the review doing my job for me - telling you exactly what it did and didn't test. The pool is "quite small, still decent if you're not a professional athlete," the water "sometimes more cold than it's supposed to be," and the location "very centrally located." Useful, bounded, fair.

What it actually is

The listing calls it a sports_activity_location, but every reviewer treats it as an aquatic and spa centre with a gym attached - pool laps, saunas, jacuzzis. The address is Bulevardul Revolutiei din 1989 5, open 07:00 to 23:00 every day of the week, which is the one price-free fact you can bank on.

Where the voices agree, and where they scratch

Two themes repeat across the recent reviews, and neither is about the workout. First, maintenance. A February 2026 four-star: "One of the saunas is sometimes open and sometimes not. One of the jacuzzis has been broken for months." A January 2024 four-star said the same about "2 smaller pools/jacuzzis that were not maintained and out of order." A July 2024 reviewer flagged changing rooms "not very well-maintained or clean" and "fitness machines old generation." When three separate people over two years point at broken spa fixtures and tired gear, that's a pattern, not a bad day.

Second, the front desk. That December 2025 reviewer phoned to ask about winter-holiday hours, was told the schedule is on the website ("it is not"), and got a dismissive answer that had them "wondering whether I will renew my membership." Another reviewer, by contrast, found staff "pleasant and know English." So is the front desk rude or pleasant? It seems to depend on who picks up the phone.

What that 4.5 is measuring

4.5 across 383 ratings is a big, trustworthy sample, and the words match the number - people like the central location and the pool, and grumble about upkeep and the odd rude call. One glowing September 2025 five-star ("Clean and has everything you need") is the kind of generic line that tells you less than the detailed three- and four-stars around it. Trust the specific over the sunny.

What's missing

No review states a membership price or a day-pass rate. Nobody confirms whether the broken jacuzzi got fixed - the reviews name the problem, never the resolution. If lane swimming is your reason to join, ask about pool dimensions and lane availability, because "quite small" is the only measurement anyone gives.

Who it's not for

Serious lap swimmers ("quite small"). Anyone chasing new machines - a reviewer called the gym floor "old generation." If a broken sauna on a given day would ruin your visit, the maintenance comments are a warning.

FAQ

Is Continental Fitness Spa mainly a gym or a pool?

Reviewers use it primarily for the pool, saunas and jacuzzis, with a gym floor attached. One reviewer explicitly wouldn't rate the gym at all, and another called the machines "old generation."

What are the opening hours?

The listing shows 07:00 to 23:00, seven days a week. One reviewer noted the website schedule was missing over the winter holidays, so confirm by phone for holiday periods.

The changing rooms not very well-maintained or clean. Instructions for using the towel in the sauna are really necessary. Fitness machines old generation. The report price- quality is good. Open until 23h.

Good spa. On the plus side, it has a nice big pool and it is not crowded. What can be improved are 2 smaller pools/jacuzzis that were not maintained and out of order.

I just go for the swimmingpool, so I can't comment on the gym part. The pool is quite small, still decent if you're not a professional athlete. Water is sometimes more cold than it's supposed to be, which is not pleasant at all. On the plus side, it is very centrally located and all in all it is an ok place to be,I never had any serious issues. What I really mind is that some of the people at the front desk are downright rude. I phoned to ask about the working hours during the winter holidays. The woman that answered said their schedule is on the website (it is not), and when I asked more specific questions on Christmas / NY she was absolutely dismissive to the point where I am now wondering whwther I will renew my membership or not.
