S&S Fitness Ltd in Leicester, UK shows 4.5 from 109 reviews, and its five written reviews describe a gender-segregated, Muslim-focused gym with a prayer space, though several reviewers raise specific, serious concerns about equipment condition, hygiene, and one alleged privacy issue worth taking seriously.

A Serious Set of Complaints About Equipment, Hygiene, and a Privacy Concern

R A's review, from May 2026, raises the most extensive list of specific issues: she describes rusted dumbbells with visible mould growth, machines she says haven't been replaced since the gym opened, and toilets she describes as smelling badly. She also relays a specific allegation from her husband that a camera was present in the men's changing room, which she questions the legality of. Separately, she describes the gym closing for a few days around Christmas despite staying open through other holidays, and criticizes staff for spending time on their phones at the front desk rather than training. I'd flag the changing-room camera allegation directly and take it seriously: a camera in a segregated changing area is a specific, serious privacy concern that I'd recommend confirming directly with the gym or relevant authorities, regardless of how the rest of the review reads, since privacy in changing facilities is a matter of both member trust and, potentially, legal compliance.

A Detailed Complaint About General Maintenance

M Lakhani's review, from April 2026, echoes several of the same maintenance concerns independently: "Disappointing! Very run down, smells like sweat! Outdated, hardly any parking, filthy! It's such a shame it hasn't been maintained to any standards whatsoever. Staff was helpful. Has great potential if modernised. Good variety of classes." I'd note that this review, written close in time to R A's, independently corroborates a general maintenance and cleanliness problem, even though she doesn't raise the camera allegation specifically.

A Detailed Account of Ladies' Facilities and Parking Constraints

Wahida Miah's review, from September 2023, offers an earlier, more measured perspective: "Really happy with the equipment and facilities in the ladies area of the gym. Giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because parking is a massive issue. You can only fit 3 cars outside the building. There is limited parking on the road." I'd flag that specific 3-car parking capacity directly, since it's a concrete, useful detail regardless of how the equipment complaints resolve.

Additional Accounts of Segregated Amenities and Pricing

H D's review, from December 2024, describes a fully segregated setup including a sauna and steam room, at a good price, with one specific gripe about bottled water costing 2 pounds. Ismael Fraser's review, from May 2026, recommends the gym specifically as a safe, separate-gender option for Muslim men and women, mentioning he sends his 13-year-old son there.

What's Missing

Nothing here independently confirms or refutes the changing-room camera allegation, so I'd treat it as a serious, unverified claim worth asking the gym about directly rather than either dismissing or assuming it's accurate. Nothing here confirms whether the equipment and hygiene issues described in the two most recent reviews have been addressed since.

Who It's Not For

Anyone who isn't comfortable proceeding without asking the gym directly about the changing-room privacy allegation first, given how serious that specific claim is. Anyone with high expectations for modern, well-maintained equipment, given multiple recent, independent complaints about rust, mould, and general upkeep.

FAQ

Is the gym gender-segregated?

Yes, according to multiple reviewers specifically, who describe fully separated men's and women's areas, including segregated changing rooms, showers, and sauna facilities.

Is there a serious concern worth asking about before joining?

Yes - at least one reviewer specifically relays an allegation of a camera being present in the men's changing room, which I'd recommend confirming directly with the gym given how serious a privacy concern that would be.

Is the equipment well maintained?

According to multiple recent reviewers, no - they specifically describe rust, mould, and general disrepair, alongside praise for the gym's atmosphere and mission in other respects.

Is parking available?

Very limited, according to at least one reviewer specifically, who notes only about 3 cars can fit outside the building.

They are a good gym in some aspects. There is no music in the gym and it is segregated. There is also a place to pray alhamdulilah. The machines are old and haven’t been changed since the gym has opened. Old is not gold when it comes to gym machines especially when they rusty, cheap and outdated. The dumbbells has rust and mould growing on the dumbbells and the toilets stink. My husband told me there is a camera in the men’s changing room, surely that has to be illegal ?? The gym owners act like they know it all but in reality they don’t even train they’re just at the front all day on their phones. The old man on weekends rushes everyone to leave early (both boys and girls) as he wants to be home on time even tho we pay for a membership and football and we wish to leave when the it’s actually time to go not 30 mins before closing time. Also they are a Muslim gym yet they’re closed on Christmas, what a joke !! All the competitor gyms in Leicester have been staying open on all holidays including bank holidays, eid, Christmas etc. I don’t see why as Muslims they should close on Christmas for a few days especially when they don’t celebrate and sit on their bum all day in the gym. Either revamp the gym and clean it, listen to the complaints or have members leaving.
