Zimantra Leisure Center is on Ganahena in Battaramulla, on the edge of Colombo. It holds a 4.4 from 161 Google reviews, and the record runs through November 2025, so it's reasonably current.
Someone here named the machines, which almost nobody does.
The Equipment Question, Answered
A member in February 2025: "Best gym in Sri Lanka. All the machines are from Cybex and they are well maintained. The gym is always clean and the trainers are friendly as well."
Cybex. One brand, whole floor, and he says they're maintained. That's the sort of detail I can't get from a hundred reviews saying "great equipment," and it lets you form an opinion before you visit.
A member in May 2018: "Great facility with Gym and Pool and space for other functions. Now the Gym is in two floors with many new equipments. Great staff and super service. Has a small snack and energy counter on the second floor. Ample parking for about 20-30 vehicles. The gym training team is excellent and gives you personal time to make sure you achieve your objective. The CrossFit training is the new addition. The swimming lessons are done by reputed coaches and sessions are generally at 4.00 weekdays and 6pm for beginners."
That's the most information-dense review on the page. Two floors, parking for 20 to 30 cars, a snack counter upstairs, swimming lessons at 4pm on weekdays and 6pm for beginners.
One caveat I'd flag: it's from May 2018. "Many new equipments" and "the CrossFit training is the new addition" were true then. Eight years is long enough for both to have changed, and the Cybex comment from 2025 doesn't confirm or deny whether CrossFit survived.
The Line Worth Reading If You're Nervous
A member in February 2025: "Zimantra is one of the best gyms in CMB! My first gym was Zimantra, and I'd choose it over and over again, not just for the facilities, machines, and space but also for the super friendly trainers like Milinda. If you're looking for a spacious gym with great facilities, plus a safe and comfortable environment (especially for girls), this is the place for your fitness journey!"
"Especially for girls" is her phrase, and she's speaking from having started there. If that's the thing standing between you and a gym floor, she's the person on this page writing to you.
She names a trainer, Milinda, in praise. I'm comfortable repeating that; it's a compliment, not an accusation.
The Pool
A member in February 2024: "Zimantra is a fantastic family centric club. Impeccable facilities, crystal-clear pool, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a top-notch choice specially for water enthusiasts. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned swimmer, this club offers a fantastic aquatic haven."
A member in November 2025: "We signed up for a couples gym package at Zimantra and had a great experience. The instructors are very helpful and supportive, and there's plenty of equipment to use."
A couples package exists, as of November 2025. She's the only one who mentions it and she doesn't say what it costs.
What's Missing
No prices anywhere. Not one figure across 161 reviews, which never stops surprising me.
Nothing about whether the pool and gym are one membership or separate.
Nothing current on classes. The 2018 review mentions CrossFit; nobody since confirms it runs.
Hours and Who It's Not For
05:15 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 20:00 on Sunday. Opening at quarter past five tells you they're built for people training before work.
Not for you if you want 24-hour access. It closes at ten.
Not for you if you want to know the cost before calling, because this record can't tell you.
