Jetts Varsity Lakes is on Lake Street in Varsity Lakes, on the Gold Coast. It holds a 4.8 rating from 63 Google reviews. The record stopped in October 2019, and three of the four written reviews were posted in January 2019, within days of each other.
So: a cluster, seven years old. But one of those reviews is written by someone who was frightened of gyms, and that's the one worth reading.
The Review For People Who Don't Want To Go
A member in January 2019: "I was so hesitant to join a gym as I'm certainly not a gym junkie and had quite a lot of work to do. From the moment I walked into this gym I felt welcomed and cared for. The staff and patrons are super friendly and fun! The kind of people you look forward to seeing in a sweaty terrible state! The trainers are knowledgeable and the small group classes make training social and fun. Yes I said it! Training is fun! There is something for everyone from the dedicated athlete to the less confident and it's great value for money."
"The kind of people you look forward to seeing in a sweaty terrible state."
That's the best sentence I've read tonight about what a gym community actually feels like when it works. She's not describing the equipment. She's describing the specific relief of not minding being seen.
She also names the thing that got her there: small group classes. And she's explicit that she isn't the target market: "certainly not a gym junkie."
Cheap, Quiet, With Parking
A member in January 2019: "Very convenient quiet gym in Varsity Lakes with lots of parking space. Well equipped and maintained, all machines are in good working order. Place is always clean and tidy, and I must admit very cheap membership rates! I'm currently doing my PT and getting amazing results fast! If interested in PT sessions I highly recommend you speak with Ty, from meal plans to complete body overhaul."
Three practical facts in one review: quiet, plenty of parking, and all the machines working.
"All machines are in good working order" is worth pausing on. It's a low bar that plenty of gyms in this directory fail, and it's the sort of thing only a regular can tell you.
"Very cheap membership rates" is the only pricing signal and names no figure. That's from January 2019, so the number is long gone.
The Manager Gets Named
A member in January 2019: "One of the friendliest gyms I've been to. The Manager is so friendly and approachable and goes out of his way to make me feel welcome which is a nice change from other gyms I've been to in the past where I've been treated as just another number!"
"A nice change from other gyms where I've been treated as just another number" is doing the same work as the first review: both are people who expected to be ignored and weren't.
A member in October 2019: "Awesome staff, very knowledgeable. Comfortable, clean, and neat."
What This Page Can't Tell You
No opening hours on the listing at all. Jetts clubs are generally 24-hour operations, but nobody on this record says so and I'm not going to import that from the chain.
No prices. No description of any specific equipment. Nothing written since October 2019, which is nearly seven years, and the record rests partly on a named PT and a manager who may both have moved on.
Who It's Not For
Anyone who wants to know the current price or hours from this page, because it hasn't got either.
Anyone wanting a big facility with a pool or a sauna. Nobody mentions either, and that isn't the chain's model.
15 Lake St, Varsity Lakes QLD 4227. The club page is at jetts.com.au.
