I’ve been training with Fitness First for almost 6 years and have always had a great experience. I originally trained at the Bondi Junction Westfield club until it closed, and I now train at Spring Street Platinum. Throughout all these years, I’ve never had any issues. The reception team is always friendly, welcoming and professional, and the Personal Trainers are excellent. On several occasions, Trainers have kindly helped me improve my exercise technique, even when I wasn’t their client. I’ve also visited other Fitness First clubs across Sydney and Melbourne and have consistently found the same high standards, respectful staff and great atmosphere. One of the biggest advantages of the Spring Street Platinum club is that it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which makes it incredibly convenient for members with different schedules. The facilities are excellent, the club is always clean and well maintained, and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. A big thank you to the entire Spring Street team, from reception to the Personal Trainers, for creating such a welcoming and professional environment. Highly recommended!

They’re always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with anything you need. Their positive attitude makes a big difference and creates a great atmosphere whenever you walk through the door. Big credit to the reception team for their excellent customer service. Big ups to Ethan and Lachie

Not really sure where to start. Probably from the moment you walk into the reception area, where first impressions are usually made. You can expect to be greeted by the most unfriendly, unbothered front of house staff you might ever meet at a gym. Maybe saying hello and goodbye wasn’t outlined in the job spec, maybe having your head glued to your phone was. It would make sense that wages are being deducted if you might break your doom scrolling marathon, can’t think of many other reasons why it might be too much to ask for a smile, a nod or even to go as far as a hello. Rest assured, if you have made the trip to FF Spring Street and need to use the changing rooms for any reason you might be lucky enough to get a locker where the door isn’t hanging off its hinges. Otherwise, make sure you do any toilet business before you arrive unless you’ve brought your marigolds and want to warm up for your workout by cleaning the toilet after everyone that seems to have been weeing in the dark. Head on up to the free weights area, the only area that might actually function the way it should, because what maintenance do free weights need? Maybe a clean or sanitisation every now and again but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that being done. If you’re just not that into resistance training or just training for aerobic fitness and more functional training there is a lovely open area on the top floor. Try one of the many high end techno gym bikes that have been broken for months. If you get sick of a bike where the gears are constantly slipping, try something else. Maybe a ski erg? Oh wait, they’re all broken for weeks. A row erg might have some similar aerobic affects. No tension in any of the chains, all dampners feel the same resistance because they’re clogged full of dust - useless. Waste of time. I’m not sure how any of the PTs take money off clients to use this equipment. Zero pride in their workplace. “Someone else might sort it eventually” type attitude. I think I’d have to wear a balaclava if I was charging clients to use the equipment here. Laughable. A billion dollar company? Members and maintenance are what makes a gym function. This place lacks the latter. Judging by the responses on behalf of the gym/management, nothing is set to change any time soon ☺️

Despite the great instructors and good classes, this gym is worn out and hopelessly overcrowded. Fitness First's loss of the Westfield Bondi Junction lease, apparently without a plan b, means that Spring Street has housed the membership of two gyms since early 2025. As a Bondi Jtn resident, I only go to this gym when I don't have time to go into the city to use a clean and functional Fitness First gym. I enjoy a lively, bustling gym, but not one where I'm constantly waiting for equipment and being unable to finish workouts. Fitness First's attempt to paint the situation at Spring St in a positive light is just putting lipstick on a pig and ignores reality - a bit like calling this gym "Platinum". (With apologies to local staff who aren't to blame).

After years of membership, the situation is now unsustainable. The last straw is the cancellation of all cycling classes. This must be the only Fitness First in Australia without a cycling/RPM class. Nobody has been able to answer if we are getting the classes back anything soon. The locker rooms and showers are filthy. I have never seen a cleaner around. The equipment is deficient—there are not enough weights or mats. Machines are always broken. A couple of top Les Mills instructors are the only thing keeping this gym from losing half of its members. This place needs urgent intervention from Head Office.
