Kanchan Yoga shows 4.8/5 from 8 reviews, and its five written reviews, spanning 2019 to 2020, describe something broader than a single yoga class: a named instructor running both regular sessions in Kathmandu and multi-day retreats with lodging, food, and excursions included.

A Detailed Account of Personalized Instruction and Flexibility Work

Gabriella Lau's review is the most detailed here: "Kanchan is a very experienced yoga teacher! His classes are dynamic, a little bit challenging and fun! My body is a very tight one, but he helped me stretch a lot with breathing control, I almost can touch my knees with my head! With his experience, he knows your body well, and designs poses specifically for you to practice, giving advice on how to open your body more. He also introduced meditation to me, and I got a truly relaxing rest at the end of the class. I recommend his yoga!" I'd flag that specific breathing-control-for-flexibility detail directly, since it describes a concrete teaching method rather than a general claim of good instruction.

A Detailed Account of a Multi-Day Retreat With Local Excursions

Jessie's review describes a different, longer format entirely: "I went on a retreat with Kanchan to his retreat center in Baudha. While it is still in Kathmandu, it felt like I got out of the city for the weekend. The food was really good, the bedroom was one of the nicest I've experienced in Kathmandu and the yoga classes were exactly what I needed. The visit to the hilltop monastery was probably the highlight. I can't recommend this retreat enough for anyone who needs to recharge for a weekend." I'd note that hilltop-monastery-excursion detail directly, since it's a specific, named activity beyond yoga instruction itself.

An Additional Detailed Account of a Deepened Practice

Ainoliisa Mikkonen's review adds a specific claim about depth of instruction: "Kanchan's strong knowledge about yoga and long teaching experience made classes more deep and opening levels than I have before had. Classes had very healing and restorative effects to body and mind. The retreat center's staff is very hospitable and warmhearted. Food is organic, light and very delicious!" I'd treat that more-depth-than-before comparison directly, since it comes from someone with prior yoga experience to compare against.

Two Additional Accounts of a Peaceful Setting and an Accessible Single Class

A reviewer writing under a Korean handle describes attending a single one-on-one class for 700 rupees while passing through Kathmandu, praising Kanchan's warmth and his discussion of chakras as especially interesting for a newcomer to yoga. Ekaterina Ivanova's review, describing the retreat setting rather than a single class, calls it "a very peaceful retreat, nice quiet location," adding that the nearby Boudhanath stupa and monasteries make the location especially well suited to this kind of practice.

What's Missing

No review states current session or retreat pricing beyond the one specific 700-rupee single-class figure. Nothing here confirms current retreat scheduling, since every written review here dates from 2019 and 2020.

Who It's Not For

Anyone looking for a general-purpose gym with weight-training equipment, since every review here describes yoga instruction or a yoga-focused retreat specifically. Anyone who needs current pricing or retreat dates confirmed, since no review states current scheduling.

What's included in the retreats?

Lodging, food, yoga classes, and local excursions, according to multiple reviewers, including a specific visit to a hilltop monastery.

Is it suitable for yoga beginners?

Yes, according to at least one reviewer specifically, who describes it as an accessible, interesting introduction to yoga and chakra work for a newcomer.
