I have been coming to this gym since it was Golds Gym but honestly I feel like its going down hill. The gym went from $25 a month to $50 and its not open 24 hours any more. We were promised new gym machines which was the big reason for the price increasing but the machines are no where to be found. Someone asked the owner when are the new machines coming in and he stated he didn't order them yet! The owner is legit more worried about putting in a stupid barber shop in the gym than getting the new equipment. They started to fix the women's room but just left it a mess and did not finish it. They as well took out the group fitness classes. The owner and one of their trainers are total creeps. One of the trainers once asked these two girls if they were strippers! Totally inappropriate and there has been multiple complaints about him making women feel uncomfortable but they still keep him around. Its a good gym due to the free weights but its defiantly not worth $50 a month. This new owner is just full of broken promises and is ripping loyal customers off.

Was paying 19.99 a month then it MORE THAN DOUBLED to 49.99 month and nothing really changed inside. Same machines etc. They should of grandfathered in the old members at their current rates. I wrote them and made my case for staying at 19.99 since I don't use towel service, don't use babysitting, don't use the saunas, and don't bring a guest ( all the reasons they told me they were raising prices) but they declined. I canceled my membership.

The fact there are recent ratings of more than 1 star tells me that the owners are likely bribing people to write reviews with the offer of a free shake or something, because this gym is run by underhanded sneaky scumbags who are not above bribery. When I moved to Rhode Island in 2013, I signed up with this gym (formerly known as Gold's Gym) before I even had an apartment lease because I loved it. They offered group fitness classes that were what I was looking for- the instructors were awesome and I was at the gym every day. It quickly became a home. Eventually I ended up as an instructor myself, and Les Mills classes were brought back, which are the best fitness classes in the world. (Seriously. Straight from New Zealand!) The members and instructors were like a family--we knew each other's names, hung out outside of work--though the gym itself always had problems: broken equipment that never got fixed; heating and cooling systems that were always set to weird temps; a 2-month period when the women's locker room was broken and never rose above 50 degrees; leaking ceilings; microphones and stereo systems that were broken. The "women's" workout room that was microscopic and couldn't fit more than two people, but still, I loved this place. But then Mark the Shark and some other d-bag named Steven swooped in, and two days after the previous owner's death, fired all of the group fitness instructors with less than seven days' notice. They cancelled all group fitness classes and didn't alert the members because they felt with "such low numbers" it wouldn't make sense to send an email. These people are the scummiest of scum bags. They don't care about you, or their employees, only how much money they can get from you. This is not the gym I joined, or the family I joined, five years ago. If you're ready to sell your soul to the devil, maybe then, and only then, this is the place for you.
