Beautiful, modern, expansive and comprehensive wellness gym in downtown Amsterdam. I work in sport and public relations in New York, so it’s important to stay fit & healthy on the road. Club Sportive made that possible. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable, great layout in the gym and the best amenities. We worked out, stretched, danced, used the recovery room, sauna, cold plunge, pool and locker room. I couldn’t ask for more. It was a top notch experience. Thank you 🙏🏼

* After eight months, I unfortunately have to take back my initial impression that the gym was “well maintained.” I have never been to a gym with so many “out of order” signs. The women’s changing room is also poorly designed. When the door opens too wide, people outside can see directly into the changing area, where women may be undressed. This is a serious privacy issue, and I’m surprised it has not been addressed.* Great gym very clean with well-maintained, modern equipment. The front desk staff are lovely. My favourite part is the classes; the instructors are wonderful and easy to follow. Highly recommend trying a Hyrox class or Insanity for a real challenge. The relaxation zone, with massage guns and a massage chair, is fantastic. Honestly, it’s probably the best boutique gym in Amsterdam.

Great marketing, but for me the experience did not live up to the hype. I came across Clubsportive on Instagram and was interested mainly because of the combination of a gym and a swimming pool in one place. That sounded very convenient. I booked a paid trial day specifically because I wanted to test both the gym and the swimming facilities. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was told that swimming lanes have to be booked in advance and that there were no lanes available. This had not been explained to me beforehand, even though swimming was the main reason I came. As a trial visitor, I also do not understand how I was supposed to book a lane without member access to the app or booking system. In the end, I paid €30 for a trial but could not try the main facility I came for. The club itself looks nice and has a luxury hotel gym feeling. It is clean, well ventilated, smells nice, and the showers and toiletries are good. The location is also convenient if you work in the area. However, beyond the look and marketing, I found the overall offer underwhelming for the price. The “spa” is basically one mixed-gender sauna that fits around eight people. The pool has limited 3ppl lane capacity and needs to be booked, so swimming when you actually want to swim feels like a lottery. The gym is spacious but can feel packed, and some equipment choices are surprising, for example only two chest bench press stations. The lockers are also very narrow, which makes the locker room feel cramped when it is busy. Overall, it looks premium, but I do not think it justifies the high subscription price. Especially compared with other gyms and sports centers in Amsterdam, where trial periods are often free, charging €30 for a trial day and then not making the key facility available felt very disappointing.

I genuinely enjoy Pilates and normally look forward to classes at Club Sportive, which is otherwise a premium gym with a great atmosphere and strong instructors. To me, a good Pilates instructor should be motivating, attentive, professional, welcoming, and able to create an environment where people feel encouraged and supported regardless of their level. A quality instructor should correct posture respectfully, bring positive energy into the room, and make clients actually want to return to class. Unfortunately, Liv Sallit lacks all of these qualities. Her attitude and approach consistently make the classes feel uncomfortable rather than motivating. Instead of creating a positive and professional atmosphere, the experience feels cold, dismissive, and uninspiring. For a premium gym like Club Sportive, this level of instruction simply does not match the standard one would expect. I love Pilates, but whenever I see her name on the roster, I choose not to attend the lesson. That alone says enough. Club Sportive deserves instructors who reflect the quality and professionalism the gym stands for, and in my opinion, Liv Sallit does not belong in that category. Unfortunately, I also cannot give a higher score to a gym that does not consistently aim for the highest quality of instructors, especially for such a sophisticated and highly specialized discipline as Pilates.
