Not surprised to see the large number of one star reviews posted in the past six months. I'm surprised there aren't more as I’ve seen a lot of members complain about the standard of the gym while I’ve been training. Some of them irate to the point of yelling. There are a number of ‘budget’ gyms such as JD, The Gym, Pure Gym etc. all costing sub £20 per month and all offering a far superior gym in terms of equipment and maintenance. Even Nuffield and Virgin Active (their ‘premium’ competitors) absolutely blow David Lloyd out of the water… and do so for a fraction of the cost. Even the Multifit around the corner for £20 per month offers a far superior gym (and better cafe now). The equipment here looks like it was bought second hand 10 years ago. I regularly struggle to find matching weight plates, the free weights area often just has one bench in and, thanks to the open air swimming pool below, half of the equipment is rusty. Lets not forget about the fact half the flooring throughout the gym floor has been caving in for the past two months with nothing more than red and white tape put around it. The customer service is no better than the equipment - I haven't been able to get anyone to respond to me regarding the issues raised above in months. All I get is a cursory "I have passed your comments to...", then nothing but silence. If you are thinking of joining then I'd advise you to stay well clear. They just want to trap you in a contract for twelve months then they will forget you exist.

I've left after s few months ago 20 years of of loyalty. Of I could I would of give it no stars !! This place has gone from worse to appalling. The hygiene and cleaning is disgusting. Try making a complaint on the i pad and no response. Over several times I told staff and nothing happened. The manager couldn't care about the members I waited to speaking to him on one occasion but he was to busy talking to the pretty people soaps, actors who come here probably for free while I am paying through the roof for being disrespected. Most good reviews are obviously false and probably done by freinds. Had enough and left a few months ago and now at Bannatyne and it's truly awesome. I took several of my freinds too. They are losing many many members daily and they couldn't care less. The manager is arrogant and a horrible human being and his assistants are even worse. They need a clear out as the facilities could be sorted out but the staff are horrid. Head office your heading for a fall. This place is yesterday, the future is elsewhere. Many many new health clubs opening up everywhere even Total Fitness is far greater than here.

The worst David Lloyd . I've been a member since 2005 and have now left. Rude staff and very very rude management when I complained to the general manager he told me I was free to leave basically telling me instead resolving issues he'd rather have me gone. The staff were always trying to force me too leave positive feedback on the I pad tablet which I refused to do now I am hated by everyone that works there. They hire more females on their looks and not their experience or skills this is what happens with men in power with no morals they actually think new members will join. The reviews that are good are from the people that work at David Lloyd. Take no notice of the reviews on any platform as the are false. These type of companies should have more strict regulations and I have written to Parliment regarding the issues I have experienced and why their should be some kind of body regulating these types of business

The club is most definitely the worst club I've ever experienced. I've been a member for over 20 years and been at other clubs but since moving to Sale this has become my new club. In twelve months the clubs gone from bad to hell. The staff are horrid and management are a hundred times worse. I've encountered speaking to the manager whom is a horrid man, I felt his arrogance and bad manners was most definitely not management material. I will be complaining to head office and have now left, no longer a member I've seen over twenty of my friends who also left and anyone can see how many more members have lost faith and quit. If your thinking of joining I warn you not to do this and keep looking. Once the novelty wears off you I'll see its many many flaws all created by the management and staff they employ. Class ? They have no idea. Don't bother !! You will regret it.
