Astra Training in Brendale, Queensland, is not a gym, and it's worth clearing that up in the first line. Google categorizes it as an educational institution and consultancy, and the reviews confirm it: this is a registered training organisation running vocational courses, things like CPR and first aid, a Mental Health Resilience Program, Health and Safety Representative training, and Certificate III programs in landscaping and civil construction plant operations. If you searched for a place to lift weights, you're in the wrong listing. But the consumer signal here is real, and one review deserves careful handling, so let me work through it.

The complaint you should read carefully

Among mostly glowing reviews sits a single one-star, posted in February 2026, alleging the organisation took the reviewer's money and refused a refund over a course they say they never started. I'm going to name that the allegation exists, and stop short of adopting it, because it's one voice against a much larger set of positive ones, and I can't verify either side. I won't repeat the staff name attached to it.

What I can offer is the boring mechanism, because it reframes the anger into a checkable question. Vocational course refunds usually hinge on the enrolment agreement and the provider's refund policy: whether you formally withdrew, by when, and how the course was funded, since government-subsidised or third-party-paid places often have different refund rules than fees you pay yourself. That doesn't mean the reviewer has no right to be upset. It means the useful question isn't "how could they" but "what did the enrolment agreement I signed actually say about refunds and withdrawal deadlines?" Anyone enrolling here should get that policy in writing before paying. Wouldn't you want it in writing anyway?

What the positive reviews describe

The praise is specific and repeats. A June 2026 review from someone completing multiple courses, including CPR and an HSR course, called the support "next level compared to most RTOs I've dealt with" and said "you're not treated like just another student on a list." An October 2025 landscaping graduate wrote that trainers were "generous with their time" and that admin staff helped with a "landscaping license application" beyond the coursework itself. Another October 2025 review praised the "work ready program" leading into a Certificate III. A March 2026 HSR student gave a grounded, mixed-positive note: good training "to the point," but "class layout could be improved for access in and out." I like that one precisely because it isn't uncritical.

What the 4.7 is measuring

The average is 4.7 across 85 reviews, a solid sample. The written reviews skew strongly positive and often name real course outcomes, licenses applied for, tickets obtained, businesses started, which is a healthier signal than generic praise. The single serious complaint pulls the number down a little and stands unresolved. My honest read: many satisfied students, one unresolved billing dispute, and a score that reflects both without settling the argument.

What's missing

No review states course fees, and pricing for vocational training varies by course, funding, and eligibility anyway. There's no timetable in the record either. The website, astragroup.com.au, and the phone number, +61 7 3205 0660, are where you'd confirm cost, funding eligibility, and the refund terms I'd want pinned down before enrolling.

Who it's not for

If you want a gym, obviously look elsewhere. And if you need a course with a simple, no-conditions refund, get the written policy first, because the one unhappy review is entirely about money and terms, not teaching.

FAQ

Is Astra Training a gym?

No. It's a registered training organisation in Brendale, Queensland, offering vocational courses like CPR, HSR training, and Certificate III programs in landscaping and civil construction.

Is there a complaint about refunds?

Yes. One February 2026 review alleges a refused refund on a course the reviewer says they never started. It's a single unverified voice against many positive reviews. Get the refund policy in writing before paying.

What do students say they gained?

Reviewers describe completing courses, obtaining tickets, applying for a landscaping license with staff help, and starting their own businesses after the program.

I’ve completed multiple courses through Astra Group Services including CPR / FA CPR and the Mental Health Resilience Program, with my 5-day HSR course coming up soon, and I’ve also recently enrolled to complete my Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations. Honestly, the experience has been unreal from start to finish. Massive shoutout to Kylie and Ben. Absolute legends. From enrolment right through, they actually take the time to help you, guide you properly, and make sure you’re set up to succeed. You’re not treated like just another student on a list, they genuinely care about outcomes and it shows. Astra’s reputation speaks for itself, and after going through the process with them, I can see exactly why. Everything is smooth, communication is clear, and the support is next level compared to most RTOs I’ve dealt with. I’ve studied with a fair few training organisations over the years, and it’s honestly refreshing when you find one that actually does it right, professional, supportive, and invested in your progress rather than just ticking boxes. Would recommend Astra to anyone without hesitation. If you’re looking to upskill or get tickets sorted, don’t overthink it. Astra and their trainers will look after you 🤝

I recently completed my landscaping course at Astra Group School, and the experience was phenomenal! The instructors, Cade and Peddy, were not only knowledgeable and supportive, but also incredibly generous with their time. They always provided valuable advice and insights, even beyond the curriculum. Kylie, who handled the administrative tasks, went above and beyond as well, assisting me with my landscaping license application and helping me find additional courses. Their dedication and support made a huge difference in my learning journey. I highly recommend Astra Group School for anyone interested in landscaping. Thank you, Cade, Peddy, and Kylie, for making this such a wonderful experience!

Discusting. They will steal your money. Lie to you in the process and state your not entitled to a refund when I had an agreement made with another provider to pay for there course. Who's business is it of Astras to steal from students. Not recommended. I didn't even start the cert 3 and Kylie if your behaviour is conducted in the manner in which you did you need to take a look at yourself in the mirror!. Not recommended at all. Avoid!
