Fitness First Bond Street Platinum is on Bond Street in Sydney's CBD. It holds a 4.1 rating from 251 Google reviews, and the record is current, with reviews through June 2026.
Two members, writing a month apart, describe billing problems. Read them before you sign anything.
Charged Weekly For A Gym She Never Entered
A member in February 2026, one star: "Very disappointing experience. I signed up but never collected my card, never used the gym, and never accessed any facilities. Despite this, I was charged $31 every week. When I asked to cancel and request a refund, I was told I wouldn't get any refund and that I still have to pay cancellation fee. This feels unfair and misleading. Please read the contract very carefully before signing up."
Thirty-one dollars a week, for a membership she never activated. No refund, plus a cancellation fee to leave.
I can't verify what she signed, and a contract that starts billing on signature rather than first visit is legal and common. That's the point: it's common, and people don't expect it. Her advice at the end is the correct advice, and it's the reason this review is worth more than the four-star ones.
Rolled Over Without Being Told
A member in January 2026, one star: "I signed up for a three-month contract, which I clearly explained to staff, yet my membership was rolled over without my knowledge. I was also told there was no sign-up fee, but later discovered undisclosed incremental fees added to my membership. Cancelling was unnecessarily difficult and poorly handled."
A three-month term that renewed itself. A promised no sign-up fee, with fees appearing later.
Two separate members, five weeks apart, both describing the money going wrong in different ways. One unhappy customer is noise. Two, independently, on the same theme, is worth pausing on.
So here's what I'd settle in writing before joining: when does billing start, what exactly happens at the end of a fixed term, what the cancellation notice and fee are, and what "no sign-up fee" covers. If those answers are clear and in writing, none of this touches you.
The Sign-Up Experience Is The Opposite
Now the strange part. The most enthusiastic review on this page is also about signing up.
A member in June 2026: "Josh signed me up, honestly one of the best possible people that could have signed me up. I never knew this gym was the biggest in Sydney! From the first second he was so inviting, it went from having a free pass to suddenly touring the gym to signing up. It was all so quick and smooth it couldn't have been easier."
Read that against the two reviews above and you get a coherent picture. Signing up is quick, smooth and enthusiastic. Unwinding it is where two members hit trouble.
Notice the sequence he describes: free pass, tour, signed up, all in one visit. That's an effective sales process. It's also the moment to slow down and read what's in front of you.
A member in June 2024 says something similar: "The best part has been Matthew at reception. If it wasn't for him I would have not signed up."
What The Gym Itself Is Like
A member in September 2025: "A lot of machines covering all types of exercises. All of them are clean and neat. Lockers have electronic locks which is a plus. Some of the gym equipment might need some repairs but overall, great experience!"
Electronic locks, plenty of machines, and some equipment needing repair. That's a fair, ordinary assessment.
A member in June 2024: "The gym is big and has all equipment you need. Plenty of studios and exercise areas. Shower area is also large and comfy."
One reviewer calls it the biggest gym in Sydney. I can't verify that, and it's the sort of thing sales staff say on a tour.
Hours
Monday to Thursday, 05:30 to 21:00. Friday, 05:30 to 20:00. No weekend hours appear on the listing at all, which for a CBD gym is plausible but a big gap. Check before planning a Saturday session.
