PHIT Performance's newest written review is from February 2020 - weeks before the world changed for every gym on the planet. I'm naming that gap for what it is: the record simply stops right at the edge of the pandemic, and there's no way to tell from five old reviews whether that's coincidence, closure, or a gym that came through fine and just stopped getting written up. What's actually on the page, though, is five years of consistent, specific praise.
The Claim Worth Reading Twice
Charlie Barnett's review, October 2018, contains the most striking single detail in this batch: "They have worked wonders with my 89-year old mother, who was once in a wheelchair and now walks easily without a cane. Thank you so much Julie and Ernie!" I want to be careful here - that's one family's account of one relative's recovery, not a clinical claim I can verify, and plenty of factors beyond any gym program shape an 89-year-old's mobility. But it's specific, named, and dated, which puts it well above the generic "life-changing!" reviews you see everywhere. Barnett also compares it directly to "a lot of big-city gyms" he's trained at, and rates PHIT's space, equipment, and facilities as top-quality by that comparison.
What It Actually Costs
Chloe V, August 2015 - the oldest review here - is also the only one with real pricing: "Classes are $12 but there are other packages. A week pass is very affordable at $30." She also describes the layout: "Its two stories, the first floor are for spin classes and workout classes, the second floor (wheel chair accessible) is the gym," located "two minutes from the center of town on the mountain road." That's the most concrete paragraph in the whole record - price, layout, accessibility, and location, all in one review, from over a decade ago. Nothing since confirms whether $12 classes and a $30 week pass still hold, so treat those numbers as a 2015 baseline, not today's rate.
Owners, Named Across Different Years
Connie Forbes, January 2018, names two people who show up across multiple reviews: "Mikayla's SPIN class ROCKS" and "I also honestly don't know what I would do without Ernie's PHIT classes." The same Ernie appears in Barnett's 2018 review as a co-owner, alongside Julie. Two names recurring across independent reviewers, in different years, for different classes, is a stronger signal of who's actually running the day-to-day than any single compliment.
A Detail Worth Noting on Its Own
Chloe V adds one more thing, almost in passing: "The people in the gym will never try to compete with you, which I find a lot when I go to other gyms. It's very comforting that no one is watching you while you work out." That's a specific contrast with a specific kind of gym anxiety - feeling watched or judged - named directly rather than just praised away.
What's Missing
No review is more recent than February 2020. Nothing on record confirms current pricing, current ownership, or whether the gym is still operating the way these five reviewers describe it. I won't guess at what changed in the six years since; I can only tell you the written record doesn't cover it.
Who It's Not For
Anyone who needs current information: every review here predates 2020. Anyone pricing this out expecting 2026 rates - the only figures on record are from 2015.
