It has been a little over a month since I decided to take the step to learning Muay Thai and let me tell you it was one of the greatest decisions I have made. As of 9/24/2020: COVID-19 Response: Temperature is checked upon entry and hands must be sanitized prior to entering the gym. Classes are limited to 4-16 students and clinch work is mostly avoided. Jump ropes, pads, and other equipment that are borrowed are sanitized after one use. Students are advised to enter through one doorway and exit through another. Mats are thoroughly cleaned at the end of classes. Class Structure: There are currently two adult classes, 6:45 PM to 7:45 PM and 8 PM to 9 PM. When classes begin, students line up to pay respects to the Father of Muay Thai. Students start with cardio work followed by drills focusing on a particular technique/combo (separated into beginner and intermediate groups) indicated by the instructor prior to class on a member app. Monday through Thursday alternate from the 8 points of contacts - punches, elbows, knees and kicks - with Friday (7:45 PM to 8:45 PM) reserved as a hard training day to focus on intense cardio, advanced techniques, and/or sparring. Students: Kru Gian emphasizes a culture of mutual respect and genuine care for students' safety and personal growth. Students are disciplined in private if they falter due to lack of control, hygiene, or upholding the image that Kru Gian fostered over the years. There is a sense of unity within the students and alternating different drill partners presents no lack of the 8 Venoms culture. Instructors: Kru Gian teaches the adult classes while Kru Joe teaches the junior classes. While I haven't had the same opportunity to train under Kru Joe as much as Kru Gian, Kru Joe exhibits the same high-quality standard with decades of expertise between them combined. Kru Gian can frequently identify common mistakes in form and provide corrections that yield immediate results. He understands the development of each individual student and appropriately advances a student's progression when fit. Final Thoughts: Looking to start my journey in martial arts with no prior combat experience, I joined 8 Venoms based on my friend's recommendation and seeing how highly it was regarded in reviews. After two months in, I can say that the gym went beyond my expectations. I could tell after my first trial class that everyone involved in the gym were courteous to beginners yet pushed you to your limits. Kru Gian always tries to make himself available through text to address any questions or concerns and clearly cares for each of his students. Aside from the martial arts, some of the greatest lessons I learned were personal regarding growing outside your comfort zone and helping your partner reach their fullest potential. You will get as much as you put into it whether you are interested in fitness or learning martial arts, so if you trust in the process, results will follow. I could not recommend this gym enough; it is one of the best decisions I made!

We have gone to a few different martial arts classes. This is the only one my 11 year old son wants to go back to. Since starting middle school he has been picked on and I think the classes will not only give him physical confidence but the mental confidence as well. This is our first week, I cannot wait to see how he progresses over the next few months.

I've been a member for a month and a half and can EASILY say this was one of the best decisions I've made. It honestly has everything you need! A great workout, fun and uplifting community. The instructors are super knowledgeable and go above and beyond for their students. Each class you challenge your mind and body as you learn the sport of Muay Thai.
