Muay thai school malaga

Málaga, Spain

Muay Thai School Malaga is on Calle Obispo Salvador de los Reyes in Malaga's Distrito Centro. It holds a 4.8 rating from 47 Google reviews. It's a martial arts school rather than a gym, and there's something about the reviews you should see before you read them.

All Five Reviews Were Posted In October 2019

Every written review on this record dates from the same month: October 2019. All five. All five stars. Nothing since.

That's a burst, not a trickle, and it's now nearly seven years old. Reviews normally arrive scattered across years, and five arriving together usually means something prompted them: a promotion, a class of new students, or simply the school asking people to leave a review.

None of that is dishonest, and I'm not suggesting it is. Plenty of small clubs ask their members to review them, and the members mean every word. But it does mean the 4.8 reflects one enthusiastic month in 2019, not a track record, and nobody has written a word about this school since. A coach can move on in seven years. So can a lease.

All the reviews are in Spanish. The quotes below are my translations.

The Best Review Is Unusually Specific

One reviewer, in October 2019, wrote the most useful description of a martial arts room I've read tonight: "A place where everyone gathers, from professionals to five-year-old kids, through to middle-aged people, girls, or simply athletes who go to sweat and learn a thousand-year-old martial art. Sports equipment in quantity and quality, brand new facilities and an excellent group of people. There's no disrespect, the girls can train comfortably, and new people are treated the same way as someone who's been there five years. The training is given by someone who knows Muay Thai, who doesn't call himself a master. From humility, he teaches what he knows."

Look at what that tells you. Five-year-olds and professionals in the same building. Brand new facilities. Women can train comfortably, stated outright. Beginners treated like veterans.

And that last part is a quiet compliment: a coach who won't call himself a master. In martial arts, where titles get handed out freely, someone declining one says something.

The Coach Is The School

Another reviewer, that same month: "It's a spectacular school! 100% recommendable for kids, teenagers, adults, etc. I'll just say that once you start you'll get hooked, because in this school you don't just practise a sport, you acquire many, many values. It's a big family. Of the coach, Juan Trigo, I'd say that as well as being a great coach he's a great person."

A member, also in October 2019: "The best gym I've been in, with very good facilities and a family atmosphere. It's ideal for competitors, for people looking for good physical shape, or simply for people who want to disconnect from the routine or from day-to-day problems. Both the coach and his assistants are magnificent and very approachable."

So the coach is named, he has assistants, and the school takes both competitors and people who just want to sweat. Two reviewers say the same thing: this works whether you're fighting or not.

Who It's Not For

It's Muay Thai. There's no weights floor, no machines, no cardio suite, and nobody mentions any. If you want to lift in central Malaga, this record won't help you.

If you dislike group training or want to be left alone, "big family" is the word that keeps coming up, and it isn't a coincidence.

What's Missing

Everything practical, unfortunately. No opening hours, which for a school running a class timetable is the fact you'd most want. No phone number. No pricing.

The only link is a Facebook page, which is where I'd ask about the schedule.

FAQ

Is this a gym?

No. It's a Muay Thai school. Nobody mentions weights, machines or open training.

Can beginners join?

Yes. Reviewers describe five-year-olds, teenagers, adults and competitors training there, and say newcomers are treated like long-standing members.

Can women train comfortably?

A reviewer says so directly: there's no disrespect and the girls can train comfortably.

Why were all the reviews posted in one month?

I don't know. All five date from October 2019, which suggests a prompted burst rather than reviews accumulated over time. Nothing has been written since.
