Kal Spenborough Fitness Complex

I've not been here for years, since the refurb for sure. I went with my 2 yo granddaughter, the baby pool was brilliant, great lighting and lots of toys. Had a brilliant time. Would recommend the £7 KAL card as it is a bit pricey.

NEW REVIEW - Still a 1 star!! Got to the desk 2 minutes late due to surrounding road works, sent us away not allowing us to the lesson. (Often get a heads up but understand not required to do this) 2 ladies on the desk - 1 short brown hair and the other frizzy ginger, zero people skills and rude as ever! Not the first time with these 2! Team leader came - zero compassion, more happy to see a 4 year old girl in tears. Seen this happen to other parents and one rightly pointed out if we will be reimbursed for lessons we are not allowed to attend - KAL service a shambles as usual Extremely disappointing A very baffling and odd process riddled with obstacles to change swim class My daughter moved up stages, after we stated there were no suitable classes for us to move to we asked to stay in the current class and join a waiting list, we were told if we didn’t chose a class we would be allocated one! Backed into this corner we reluctantly chose a session - we have not managed to attend one session yet! After checking daily for a suitable time we contacted contact centre who informed we would have to wait 30 days and check again - the time we are looking for will most likely be gone. The organisation will state it is ‘policy’ however judging by comments this isn’t an isolated incident and they have zero interesting in making this right. Real shame the organisation doesn’t see the people this most effects are the kids! Due to their blatant disregard for this we have no option but to look for alternative options. On a Positive note - the swim teachers and lessons structures have been great and my daughter learnt a lot from them!

Rude staff, terrible lesson set-ups for children’s swimming lessons and awful experience with customer service team. Would not recommend at all! If you are looking for children’s swimming lessons, believe me you will find better quality lessons, kinder staff and better facilities elsewhere. Avoid!!

We are very disappointed with this place. My 9 yrs old daughter takes swimming classes here. We were late for 9 minutes for the class and the couch made her sit on the bench for 20 minutes. I requested two staff members to let her in the water but they said that their system is not working and then don’t know who is her teacher. She kept crying as she was sitting on the bench and all her friends were swimming. I requested that if you don’t want to allow her to swim today, please let her go. Staff said that just let me find out and then nothing. No one cared that she was crying. Respond to respond: if she was late, why didn’t you just ask her to go home and come next week. What was the point of keeping her on the bench? Staff must have seen her upset on the bench sitting alone stressed where all other kids were swimming. They shud have asked me to take her home. But no one bothered. Anyway nothing we can do except to carry on and face whatever we face.

I tried to move my child to another class that seemed more productive and progressive, but was told a one-month notice is required to make the change. By the time that period ends, the class will likely be full. Unfortunately, my child is currently in a class where instructors change almost every session, there’s no continuity, and progress has stalled. Lessons feel disorganised and performance isn’t being monitored anymore. It’s disappointing to see the quality decline so much. I’ve decided to stop the lessons as they’re no longer benefiting my child.
