Busy gym , hard to train peacefully as you have to navigate between people either training or swiping on their phones. Good stuff : excellent selection of machines and lots of benches and squat racks , pendelum squat machine is amazing, 24 hours , staff are friendly. Not so good : busy , water fountain takes 3 minutes to fill a bottle. Overall positive, I kept my subscription running and love their selection of legs exercise machines.
I’ve been using The Gym on Newport Road for many years and always find the staff welcoming, friendly and very helpful. There is a large variety of equipment from free weights, squat racks, weight machines, treadmills and even a very well equipped functional area. They have a great selection of classes on offer with coaches which are knowledgeable, welcoming and supportive to all abilities but also know how and when to push you to reach your goals. The members here are like a little family too, you will often see people chatting or helping others, encouraging one another. It really is a great community and a lovely gym.
Been coming to the gym for the last 9 months mostly doing classes as wanted to improve my strength and fitness. Mary, Jacob and Abbie are brilliant coaches who really push you and help build your confidence. There is a brilliant vibe at classes and have made some like minded friends for life. There is also an excellent range of equipment if you are looking to train solo.
Fabulous gym for the price point, but the lockers in the men’s changing rooms can be opened despite using a padlock: if you push and twist, you can easily open them. I tried other lockers when I noticed this and it was the same. I enjoy going but I’m particularly concerned about keeping any kind of valuables inside the changing rooms from now on. This needs fixing urgently and is spoiling what is overall great value for money.
No disinfectant spray or blue roll is provided for gym users to clean equipment after use. There is no hand sanitiser available anywhere in the gym. The drinking water tap could be upgraded to a dual-purpose system, allowing both bottle filling and use as a fountain (two-way tap). Addressing these points would greatly improve hygiene standards and overall member experience.
