I ve been going a couple of weeks now , I’m in my 50’s and on the larger side. I thought I might feel ridiculous and people may laugh at me . But I have to say I love this so much . The staff are amazing they really make you feel comfortable and part of the group , no matter your ability. Kirsten helped reassure me from the word go and I’m not looking back. The groups are also so accepting of each other no judgement and that is such a positive part of it to. The instructors are amazing with all ages, genders and abilities , they make you feel empowered in yourself and they have great humour and delivery . I can’t rate them high enough. They help to rebuild self esteem and have a very positive impact . I’m so glad I took the step and went. They are clear and calm in teaching and make the whole thing a sweating but very productive and positive experience. I love it .

I gained my black belt at the Blackwell academy and still train there twice a week under the expert tuition of Martyn, Michael, Bob and Sean. I never miss an opportunity to do a Boot Camp or Technical course with Mick Blackwell who first taught me back in 1982. Excellent club 👊

Very disappointing experience! parents, please check the prices before signing up! I enrolled my 6-year-old son in karate lessons in the Woodbridge/Martlesham area, and unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. Before joining, I understood the monthly fee would be around £60. However, after my son’s trial lesson, I was told it would be £80 per month. Although I was shocked, I agreed because I assumed everyone was paying the same price. After speaking to several other parents waiting for their children, I discovered that none of those I spoke to were paying £80 per month. When I contacted the club to question why different prices were being charged, I was simply told that £80 was the correct price for my son’s age. For a 6-year-old attending just two 40-minute lessons per week, I personally feel £80 per month is excessive, especially when other families appear to be paying less. On top of this, I paid another £80 in cash immediately after the trial for the uniform and insurance. Because I was unhappy with the pricing and the explanation I received, I requested cancellation of my son’s membership. However, the first £80 direct debit had already been taken on 1 October. When we attended on 7 October, the female instructor questioned why we were there. I explained that I had already paid for October and was happy not to attend any further lessons if the payment was refunded. She agreed that a refund would be provided. Despite sending several messages, I still have not received my refund. My son has not attended any further lessons, and I am extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I now intend to raise a formal complaint through Citizens Advice. My advice to other parents: Always ask for the full price before the trial lesson, check what other families are being charged, and make sure you understand the cancellation and refund policy before signing anything. I expected transparency, fairness and professionalism from a children’s karate club. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
