10x10 Ft Home Gym Layout: What Fits in 100 Square Feet

A 10x10 ft room is 100 square feet. A hundred square feet is the size of a generous walk-in closet.

The room isn't the problem. It's square, and a barbell isn't. I read the spec pages for the equipment people actually buy (Titan's T-3 rack, Rogue's bar and bench, Bowflex dumbbells), converted everything to inches, and checked how it fits into 120 by 120. Nobody here has taped this out on a floor. What follows is arithmetic, and the arithmetic is more forgiving than you'd think, with one exception.

TL;DR: A centered rack on one wall works in 10x10 ft. The bar leaves about 16.7 inches at each end, which is the tightest number in the room. If the space has to double as something else, a folding rack or no rack at all both work.

Start With the Bar, Not the Rack

Everyone measures the floor. The barbell should come first.

Rogue's 20 kg Ohio Power Bar is86.52 inches long, with a loadable sleeve of 16.875 inches. Titan's Performance Series bar is86.6 inches. Call it 87. In a room 120 inches wide, a bar parallel to one wall leaves 33 inches of slack, and if the rack is centered that's 16.5 to 16.7 inches at each end.

Is that enough? A 45 lb bumper plate is17.5 inches acrossby Titan's spec, so the gap at each end is smaller than the plate you're sliding on. It works, because you slide the plate onto the sleeve while facing the bar end, but you'll bump the wall with your knuckles if the rack drifts off center by even a few inches. Tape the center line on the floor first. I'd call this the single most important mark in the room.

Does the rack itself fit? Easily. Titan'sT-3 82 by 24lists a 54 by 32.75 inch footprint, 46 inches outside width and 82 inches of height. Against a wall it leaves 87.25 inches of depth in front of it. For a longer look at that frame, see ourTitan T-3 82x24 breakdown.

Three Layouts for 100 Square Feet

All three assume a rubber floor. Horse stall mats are the usual cheap answer: Greatmats putsa 4 by 6 ft, 3/4 inch mat at roughly $45 to $75, though that page was last modified in January 2025. Retail listings put one mat at around 100 lb, and one seller shows a 155 lb shipping weight. Two mats make an 8 by 6 ft platform, which covers the rack's footprint and the first few feet in front of it.

Layout A: the fixed rack on one wall. Rack centered, bar parallel to the wall, bench stored upright in a corner. A flat bench under the bar adds about 22 inches beyond the rack's front, and that still leaves roughly five feet of clear floor in front of the bench. That's room for floor pulls, a jump rope, push-ups and stretching. This is the best use of a 10x10 room, and I don't think the folding alternative is close if nobody parks a car or a bicycle in there.

Layout B: the folding rack. Titan'sT-3 folding racklists 22.5 inches of depth from the wall in use and 5 inches folded, for 46 inches of outside width, 82.375 inches of height, and a 1,100 lb rackable rating. The price on the page is $399.97, against $499.99 list, on October 17, 2026. Folded it gives back about 17 inches of floor. That's the difference between a spare room that stays a gym and one that doubles as a guest bed. The trade: a rack you fold every session is a rack you stop folding, and I'd pick the fixed T-3 for a room that's only a gym. The 1-year warranty is the same on both.

Layout C: no rack. Adjustable dumbbells and one bench. Bowflex'sSelectTech 552covers 5 to 52.5 lb per dumbbell in 15 settings and measures 16.9 by 8.3 by 9 inches each, at $328.99 on sale (regular price $479). Titan'sPerformance Series benchis 56 by 25 inches, 52 lb, rated 650 lb at any angle, and $207.97. Together that's $536.96, and the whole set lives in one corner. Press, row, split squat, curl, all fine. What you lose is a loaded barbell on your back.

Where the Floor Actually Goes

For Layout A, with numbers in inches:

ZoneSizeWhat lives there
Rack footprint54 x 33T-3 centered on the back wall
Bench zone25 x 56Slides under the bar, stands upright after
Open floor120 x 87 in front of the rackDeadlifts, push-ups, warm-up (the bench zone overlaps it)
Corner20 x 20Plates, or a dumbbell stand

Two details beat the rest. Ceiling height first: the T-3 stands 82 inches with a pull-up bar at 78, so a standard 8 ft (96 inch) ceiling clears it. Standing overhead presses are another matter: check your own lockout height before you trust that 14 inches of spare room. Second, bolt it down. Titan says outright that itrecommends bolting the rack, and a rack shoved against a wall with a loaded bar on it isn't the place to economize.

For a bigger room with the same logic, the3x4 m garage floor planworks through twelve square meters. Wondering what to buy first? Start withwhat to buy first for a home gym, and keep theequipment dimensions tableopen while you tape things out.

What to Skip in a Square Room

A treadmill. A rower, which is longer than the bar and doesn't tuck anywhere. A cable tower, unless you're willing to trade the lane. Mirrors are fine, they cost no floor.

The 10x10 gym is a good room if you accept that it has one big idea. Make it the rack, or make it the dumbbells. Trying both at full size is how a 100 square foot room ends up feeling like 60.
