Connect Gym Navigator to Cursor

Cursor is a code editor, sure, but it runs MCP servers natively. If you live in Cursor all day, there's no reason your training planner can't sit one keystroke away. Setup is a tiny JSON edit.

The one-step way

Add to Cursor

Opens Cursor with the server pre-filled. The steps below are the manual route if the link is blocked.

Setup, step by step

    Open the MCP config

    Go to Settings, then Features, then MCP, and choose Add new MCP server. Cursor stores this in a mcp.json file you can also edit by hand.

    Add the Gym Navigator server

    Add an entry with the URL https://coach.gymnavigator.com/mcp set as a remote (HTTP/SSE) server. Give it the name gym-navigator. Save the file.

    Reload and approve tools

    Cursor picks up the new server and lists its tools. Approve them when prompted. You'll see search_exercises, find_gyms, and the rest appear in the tool list.

    Use it from the chat pane

    In Cursor's chat, ask "Find me a dumbbell shoulder exercise" and it'll call the connector and return Gym Navigator links right inline.

Good to know

  • Cursor treats this as a remote MCP server, not a local command. There's nothing to install.
  • If tools don't appear, toggle the server off and on in the MCP settings panel.

The connector exposes 8 tools. You never call them by name, you just talk, and Cursorpicks the right one. Each tool has its own page with example prompts:
